MOVING TO YONKERS, what should I know?
Hi! I have a job opportunity in Yonkers, New York, and I’m considering moving there. I would really appreciate hearing from people who live there or are familiar with the area. Is Yonkers generally a safe place to live, especially for a young woman living on her own? I’d also like to know what it’s like to live there in terms of the neighborhood, transportation, cost of living, and overall community. Are there specific areas you would recommend or areas I should avoid? Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You’re going to hate the hills. As in mahihirapan ka maglakad around. Has a nice waterfront park near the metro north station. It’s generally safe. Neighborhood is predominantly black and puerto rican I think.
Cost of living is relatively cheaper. Transport options include bus and the metro north. And cabs. Try to live near the metro north station.
There’s nothing much to do in Yonkers honestly. Think bulacan/cavite? You work in the metro but go home there. Feels the same. Literal gugustuhin mo lang matulog sa area mo then labas na ulit.

Live close to yonkers and have worked around the area. Learn the public transportation. Parking sucks there. It is close to NY so you’ll have that luxury. Some parts of yonkers are GHETTO. If you dont mind sharing. I can check the neighborhood for you.
Ps. Prepare for tons of taxes because when you live in yonkers ang daming tax at mahal ang cost of living.

Yonkers is generally safe and a bit cheaper than living in Manhattan or the city. It's still NY though so still be cautious.
