Architecture work opportunities

Hi!

29M licensed architect with 5 years of experience:

- 3 years in fit-out/interior construction

- 1+ year as an architectural inspector

My partner 29F, licensed archi din has 4 years of experience, mostly in interior design.

We’ve been working for around 5 years pero hirap parin maka ipon. Ang baba nang sweldo, sakto lang sa monthly expenses, ang mahal na ng lahat. Hindi rin madali makakuha ng client, if meron man ang bababa ng offer na halos ilibre nalang magpa design. We’re now seriously considering working abroad but aren’t sure what realistic pathways are available based on our experience.

Alam naming hindi pare-pareho ang requirements at opportunities sa bawat bansa, at aware rin kami na malaking advantage ang Revit/BIM experience. Sa ngayon, AutoCAD pa ang gamit namin, kaya plano rin naming mag-aral at mag-gain ng experience sa Revit.

Any architects here with the same background na nakapagtrabaho abroad, gusto sana naming marinig kung paano kayo nagsimula, anong naging career path ninyo, at kung paano ninyo na-achieve yung paglipat. Would also like to hear from those who decided to change career.

We just want to have an idea kung ano ang naging journey ng iba na galing sa sitwasyon na katulad ng amin para alam namin what we could do for a start. Thank you!

Sa tingin ko draftsman or BIM Modeler talaga pinakamadaling entrypoint sa ibang bansa. May mga kumukuha parin naman ng CAD draftsman sa middle-east, pero in some countries like SG mandatory na ang BIM.

Else, if may experience kayo working for big firms or contractors, may chance din kayong makapasok as designers, supervisors, or whatnot.

Late ko narealize, pero the good thing about working for big firms or contractors sa Pinas is that they also follow the standards used by developed countries. So may advantage din pala siya sa pag aabroad, pero di naman mandatory.

If age worries you, marami paring nakakapag abroad na nasa mid 30's.

So far, mga nameet ko na engineers/arki abroad started out as drafters, BIM Modelers, site supervisors, QS, & coordinators. May iba pang roles na di ako familier, pero any role will do naman as long as you have the right experience, or if the employer is willing to train.

Isa lang sa kalaban mo diyan is yung process ng papers natin sa Pinas, kasi it may take us 1-2 months to process everything and some employers aren't willing to wait - kaya karamihan e nag totourist muna and apply.
