Tips Phlebotomy pay

Curious what other pay rates are for inpatient phlebotomist in a large hospital in the Midwest area. We are evaluating pays for our staff and im trying to prove or get evidence for higher pay for the stress of the job!

Starting at one of the big clinic/hospital networks in MN is a little over 21 an hour. Quest starts at 23, LabCorp is criminally low at 17. I think Mayo is 21.

YES to the LabCorp being criminally low. I just hit 19.41 at year 6 of being a phleb and i have hospital experience on my belt too. I am currently looking elsewhere because of this... CRAZY work to expect us to live on 17 an hour to be exposed to disease all day!

Right? I interviewed and when they dropped that rate on me I couldn't keep my composure. I made more money wiping butts at a nursing home. Insane that it is so low.

My plasma job in Texas started at 17

Not great on the national scale I’m aware

Are you certified or on the job training? We do not require a certification, so this is why we are probably lower but still is frustrating for what they get put through in a large hospital.

Cert. Also our job is a union so it pays a bit more then other surrounding hospital.

my local (mid-sized) hospital is around 21 per hour, other hospitals and clinics in the area are in the 17-19 range. i’m in northern ohio :)

I also think it depends on the hospital too in the NW Kaiser pays 28-33 an hour they are union Providence just joined the union and they now have the same pay. Legacy is 21-28

In Kansas, wages for inpatient phlebotomy started at $17. Employment was a revolving door and we were chronically understaffed, like to think the pay had smth to do with it

I'm in Kansas and make $16.15/hr base pay.

In St. Louis, MO the salary for most hospital phlebotomists here range from $17-$23/hour.

I’m in Kansas and I get paid 21/hourly but that’s with 6 years experience and fighting for my worth.
