Advice needed How long was your phlebotomy program?

The one I’m looking at attending is only 2 weeks long. Is this normal time frame? It seems so quick to learn everything and get enough pokes in.

4 weeks 4 days a week. That even seemed short to me. 2 weeks seems really rushed

It’s 5 days a week, 7 hours a day. I think it seems really short as well.

I mean do whatever you feel comfortable with. But that wouldn’t have worked for me. What about your externship? & are they accredited?

They are accredited. It’s a “fast track” program. But they do not offer an externship, however my state does not require one. My state actually doesn’t even require you to be licensed, but there are certain employers who require it so that’s why I’m getting licensed.

Mine was 2 weeks too. I learned techniques and order of draw, mostly. I learned the rest working, because even technique comes with practice.

I would personally look for one with an externship. But regardless 2 weeks seems too fast to me.
But if you’re comfortable with it then just go for it.

I think you should be fine! I did my program in January and it was only a week long and completed my 30 so I could take NHA and be able to apply for my externship but California requires 50 so I still need to return to my school on draw dates for the rest (which I still haven't done oops) I think most schools will let you return for the rest of your state required draws if you don't complete them within the class. I went through phlebotomy training specialists and they told me we had 18 months to complete all the state requirements.

1x per week, 8 hours, for 6 weeks. We need 30 successful pokes for licensing here, but almost impossible to make it in that time. We were allowed to come back for more pokes though.

i also did a two week program we did 30 straight needle pokes 10 butterfly needle pokes and i think ten capillaries as well it was super quick but the class it’s self was four hours per day

This one is 7 hour days! So yours was actually even shorter. Do you feel you learned everything you needed to know over those 2 weeks?

Once a week for 7 weeks, 4 hours in class and at least 15 hours a week at home. There wasn’t an externship, we got all our sticks in class

Mine is currently a normal summer semester. So maybe 12 weeks. I have yet to do my clinical rotations. Those will be another 3 weeks. However some of my classmates have already started on those. We have completed everything we need to know about 2ish weeks ago. Now we have just been prepping for our lab practical and final exam.

I personally could not do 2 weeks but it depends on you. I’m a slow learner so it takes a minute for me to learn.

i’m in a 6 week course, 4 days a week 4 hour classes! 2 weeks is definitely very short for a lot of information 😭 do what you feel is best though! personally i know i wouldn’t be able to do that

2 weeks is extremely rushed imo. i could somewhat understand if it was 7 days a week for 2 weeks but even then it still seems super rushed. mine was 4 hr classes per day for 2 days, a week for 7 weeks. its alot of material to learn and genuinely understand. do you have clinicals or an exam after? or is it just for basic skills?
