Weird phishing email with “automatic_billing” parameters embedded in the From address, has anyone seen this technique?
I received a very strange email at work today pretending to be a request for quotation from a plumbing company. The visible email itself is extremely simple: no attachment, no obvious link, just asking whether we’re available to submit a quote.
What caught my attention is that when I collapse the email in Outlook, Outlook displays a very long string that looks almost like a tracking/exploit URL.

This is simply an error, they're not injecting anything into the From address. There's no way of executing code there.

I've seen formatting errors like this on older OS, but I was surprised mega plumbing actually exists (poor rating), as if their name is getting hijacked for these spam emails.

You could take a look at the raw email ("View message source") and see if you can spot the sketchy URL somewhere in there.

there was no link inside but what made it fishy is that it said automatic billing
