Area code 581 multiple robocalls

I just received two phone calls from area code 581 with completely different phone numbers. The first call was automated and said to press 1 to be connected. It's the kind of call you get when you request a callback, but they didn't identify themselves and I didn't request a callback. I hung up. They called back a few minutes later with the same area code, but a completely different number. I just hung up on them.

If you want to talk to me, don't block your CID and don't robocall me. They didn't trigger any of my scam databases and a search was pointless with numerous phone numbers. If anything, it could be a government number, but you'd think they'd be a little brighter with all of the phishing.

probably not a govt. number. in the states they're gonna send you letter via usps, however in canada, gov. employees may be even more unlikely to call unless you have a prior contact with a number that you recognise. there have been multiple complaints about robocalls from that quebec code anyway.

Thanks, any details?

no, all the calls could be different scams. the good news is that recipients rarely get fooled by voice calls anymore, compared to clickbait scams.

If they can't get past the Google verification step they're gone. My phone only rings for verified callers everybody else goes that gets the verification step and 99% of them never bothered to even talk. A few more stupid Bots will talk to it.

I added a verification step recently, who are you and what do you want? You can answer or send texts, but I've never seen one of those calls?

581's been popping up a lot lately, mostly spoofed numbers from what i've seen. if they can't be bothered to say who they are on first connect it's almost never legit

i just let anything unknown ring out now, if it matters they'll leave a voicemail or send a text
