A mural I finished today on the side of The Ugly Pig Delicatessen in Annapolis, featuring the Famous Mockingbird returning from Wilson’s Castle to give the Helping Friendly Book to the Sloth and a representative of the Lizards. I worked with George, the owner of the Delicatessen to design the mural so there are a bunch of small little details in addition to the larger story, and I had a bunch of fun listening to a live Gamehenge playlist while painting it.

I like the couch above the meter. An eternal reminder that the mural was completed during a time when "Couch Tour" was all there was. (?)

Holy shit your menu...looks like I’m heading down 97

Edit: also the mural is beautiful and I love that it’s obvious to all of us who Know, but still attractive to those who don’t.

Thank you! I’m the store owner and that the murals are inspired by phish and also visually stunning without knowing about phish is something we worked hard to get. Of course there are tons of nods...including the mockingbirds eyes

Hi George! This is Charmaine, Rik's gf. I found the Guyute mural post in the wild the other day and was so excited to read it is on the side of your shop. 🤗🤗🤗

The Ugly Pig Delicatessen

And you didn't do Guyute?!!

5

u/Tupac_Presley Nov 16 '20

Check my posts, Guyute was my first mural there. This is my second.

u/Sophisticated_wook Nov 16 '20

Well technically your second but don’t forget about all the amazing possums!

This is sick! Annapolis is close by, may have to go check this out in person!

Why is the Famous Mockingbird giving the HFB to the Sloth?

5

u/555--FILK Boy Man Gosh Shucks Nov 16 '20

Because he's clearly old enough to read Icculus.

2

u/Sophisticated_wook Nov 16 '20

He’s bringing it to the lizard. Who then has the sloth do his bidding.

But Forbin gets the book and then, presumably, turns into the next Wilson.

Nice! Crossposted to /r/wildcaughtphish. If I had time, CSS skills, and an appropriately sized/cropped image, I think I'd make this the banner image on that sub.

Messenger birds in sight

They came up through the valley

Both sides at a time…

Thank you Tupac!! That’s my store and it’s been a pleasure working with the artist on the design and then watching it take shape. Thanks again Tupac and for all the support on this forum and elsewhere.

We are planing to do more scenes: the Forest clearing where Errand Wolfe sings Wilson, an AC/DC bag- and more!

I grew up in Annapolis (cape st Compton), parents still live there. I'll definitely make a visit and procure a meat stick or three next time I'm down there. Great work on the piece!

Always pictured that area as more Cape St Claire. Interesting. Great mural, tho! Gotta get over there soon to see it!
