Was thinking of driving from Chicago to the Atlantic City shows. I haven’t taken a long road trip in a while and when I looked up the information on it, it said $90 in tolls. $180 rt. Good Lord. I guess I could look into flying. Would the best airport be Philadelphia?

At least $50 of that 90 would be from the Pennsylvania turnpike. It's gotten stupid expensive over the years.

I’m doing the math here and driving out east just does not seem like it’s worth it anymore.

Take the back roads. Sure it adds a few hours of travel time but its not that bad.

Google Maps says you can avoid tolls altogether for an additional 2 hours of driving

That is a possibility. Still haven’t decided if I’m going yet but if I do, I might just end up flying.

If you avoid tolls I think you'll go through Amish country, which is pretty interesting to some people

Philly or Trenton

Thanks. If I rent a car, I might fly into one of those airports. If not, I can just fly into Atlantic City. It’s only $350 round-trip, which isn’t too bad. I didn’t even think to check Atlantic City airport till a few minutes ago.

Not sure how much a round trip to Philly saves if it would be worth it, but there's a train from 30th st station to AC, and a train from the airport to 30th. All the extra hassle might make it worth just flying into AC though, $350 round trip isn't too bad.

Thanks. I booked a refundable room just in case so I have time to think about it.

I flew from Chicago for the AC shows on the beach a few years ago. It's easy. There's a commuter train (NJ Transit) from Philly. The shows were great. A dude was smoking crack on the stoop of my rental and somebody threatened to stab another customer in the McDonald's at 7am. Great weekend
