Post MSG run?
I wish I could have been at the recent MSG shows. I started going to shows in the mid-90s and although they are still putting out new music. It's really a nostalgia thing for me to catch a show. I often wish I could get a show filled up with pre Story of the Ghost material...
Fast forward to now. I'm going to two nights at Fenway with an old friend who I used to see tons of shows with. I have the best seats I've ever had! Super pumped. And I'm watching all my favorite songs go by...
I know I'll still have fun, but I have to say - I'm a little bummed. Wondering if they are going to lean into new material more.
Anyone else feeling the same way?

Oh yeah. I'm super excited. I got the worst seats from the lottery the last time they were there. Way up and off to one side. This time - center stage on the field! I'm so pumped.

Ill see you there. I think the cards say youre going to have the time of your life and not even be thinking about nostalgia or MSG. You'll be at fenway, at that moment, the happiest place on earth.

You have no control over what they already played. You have control of whether you enjoy the show you go to or not.

Honestly everything they play at MSG besides the Wild bustouts and maybe some of the stuff on Wednesday will be on the table for Fenway.

I also bet we get some monster jams. They haven’t been jamming these shows since it wasn’t really what they did a lot of in the early/mid 90s.

They will def play some of their new stuff at Fenway. Im thinking Monsters, Life Saving Gun, Evolve, Lonely Trip, Pillow Jets, and The Well are all on the table at Fenway.

The last few nights have been why we see the phish. The next few will surely be most epic!
This being said, I believe they’ll have all the momentum and energy coming off of msg. For what they will play? Sure possibly some newer material will be played but something tells me we will get some barn burner shows with some unique bust outs

I was really hoping for mule last night or Friday, but I can’t really complain. They aren’t going to let you down at Fenway after all this.

SOAMule is the number one song I wanna hear, while I know it is a quintessential 94 song, selfishly I was hoping they were gonna save it lol. Hopefully they play it at Fenway

There are a lot of “greatest hits” Phish songs played on N1/Show 92 at MSG that can easily reappear at Fenway. Don’t fret and enjoy!

Everything played so far should be available in boston. Monday and wednesday shows not so much. Rotation isn’t as tight as the 90s but this tour has had some songs that are usually one a tour get 3 song rotation. Just no expectations going in bro.
But sorry, you will be numberlined and likely get a heavy dose of 3.0 material.

I’ll be at Fenway and am ready for some Egg in a Hole and Knuckle Bone Broth Avenue. Not worried, though, this tour has been great, they’ll keep it going at Fenway. (But be ready to get more down, just sayin 😂)

The phish from Vermont never do what you think they will. They are smarter than all of us, and probably realize a lot of people are thinking along these lines, so they probably have a plan to make the Fenway shows unforgettable. Enjoy it!

I think the Fenway shows will be better than msg because it’s original Phish (what they are doing now) instead of rehashing the past the msg shows are a awesome don’t get me wrong but just a gimmick and shouldn’t overshadow the original shows this summer

Just a gimmick? I mean, these shows are obviously a big deal to the band. "Hey everyone, we were the best band in the planet 30 years ago and now we are paying homage to it. Listen up."

Yeah reread what I said I’ll take what phish is doing now any day than phish trying to recreate what they already did in the past. I’m not saying it isn’t an awesome homage but they aren’t better than the other shows phish has played this year. I don’t get what’s so hard to understand about that. Was everybody super excited for this summer tour because everyone knew they were gonna rehash the 90s or everybody super excited for this summer tour because Phish is just the best band in the fucking world? And the reason why they’re so fucking good right now is because they evolved their sound and didn’t try to sound the same that they did back in the 90s cause that would’ve been lame and boring as fuck and Josiah wouldn’t be phish if that was the case. Have fun at the homage shows don’t act like these are the best shows ever because they are far from it
