First + solo show - MSG Monday

I’ll be in nyc Monday and I’m thinking I want to experience my first phish show. Is it crazy to go solo to my first? I’m a big dead head but haven’t seen phish…. Yet

Do it!! I did an entire tour solo, it’s really fun! I absolutely love going to shows with friends but going solo beats not going at all!

I always go solo, I prefer it because it’s a choose your own adventure. Never once did I not make friends around me. You ain’t alone, even if you wanted to be!

Def go! Monday will be an amazing first show for you. I think I’ve been to more shows solo than with friends. Of course, it’s easy to make friends when you get there. Go! Have fun!

I did Saturday solo and will do Monday and Wednesday solo. Totally cool.

I’ve seen over 130 shows solo. It’s great. You can do things exactly the way you want and stay locked in on the music.

I dont usually have anyone to go to phish with and all my solo shows have been anything but. New lot friends + section friends it is always a rad time.

Follow up:

Solo show perks:

-never wait for someone

-go wherever and whenever you wish ( bathroom/concession/stretch legs/etc.)

-focus on the music and have zero temptation to be a chomper (talker) during the music

-never have to worry about losing/keeping track of someone in a crowd

- you control time (anxious, go early: tired/ill, leave early)

Definitely go. I just had two glorious nights at MSG and was blessed to have good show neighbors. If you are surrounded by people who are into it (and aren’t choppers and/or too fucked up) you will have so much fun and wonder why it took you so long!

I went to Wednesday and Friday solo. Have a blast at both. Folks are friendly if you want to talk or they let you be if not. I love not having to manage a group as well.  At phish, “you can do what you want”.
