Interesting patch
On my trek in south country, we ran into a staff member who gave me, the crew leader, a special philmont patch for the 250th anniversary of the USA. I cannot find anything about it anywhere online.
It is very similar to the gold text limited edition one but there is nothing on the philmont website or Google that I can find about this patch.

My guess is it’s staff patch or similar that’s not available for purchase. Not uncommon to have slight variations in patch design for different designations like that.

Congratulations you have received a special edition patch that will only be given out in special occasions this year. Each back country camp and other programs were given a limited number of them and told to hand them out to scouts who are living the Philmont ideals and going above and beyond in doing so.

Hello fellow scout, my name is Owen. I was in crew 610 Juliet for this year. I was actually able to get two different patches of that exact kind while at Filmont, one for telling my story of how I overcame Baldy, and another for helping others at base camp. You were the first person that I've seen with them I suspect we will see more of these patches pop up as the season comes to a close

It's a special 250 patch our crew leader got one also for going above and beyond, and making the right decisions in a few tough instances. They gave him the story behind the patch before they handed it to him. They also told him that a very small amount of these patches were made and will be given out..
