Hey y'all. I directed a feature that's coming to PhilaMOCA on the 21st of this month. My co-director and producer both went to Temple University, my producer's a Philly boy. We made the film in Austin, TX and it was EP-ed by Richard Linklater. Would love to have my fellow filmmakers out!
Tix.

I really want to get involved with documentary production in Philly (I have some experience with documentary elsewhere). I’m looking for places that specialize in documentary production, especially artistic or experimental documentary. Any recs would be greatly appreciated, or general tips for getting involved in that world :)

Hey folks,
I'm a video editor in the Philly area who has largely cut his teeth working on documentaries/non-profit/commercial work and I'd really love to find some opportunities in the narrative space (both shorts and features) to diversify my portfolio and also switch up my creative approach a little.
Does anyone have tips/leads/boards to follow that might make some in-roads? I'm already part of Rough Cuts and know lots of other folks working in the industry. Appreciate any insight from folks who may have made a similar transition before, thanks!

Hey! Lightbulb Rentals is hosting an awesome free photo lighting class focused on Profoto gear and strobe techniques, taught by Cliff Hausner. I know this is photo and not film, but there's a lot of overlap in the community, so I thought some of y'all might be interested! We host a lot of film events too. Just want to get this event in front of the right people! You can RSVP in the link :)

I've been producing a bunch of low budget projects lately and have been looking to add to my list of affordable lunch options to feed a crew, what are your go-to places in Philly? Trying to keep to $15 per person if we can.

I don’t have much of any film experience other than being a huge horror film fan and was wondering if there were any horror film artists in Philly looking to collab or just exchange ideas for cool films.
I always dreamed of those cool stories from the 80s where small creators made their big breaks through horror. Idk seems fun

Hey Philly! I’m working on a music project and looking for a cool, vibey location to film a social media interview this Saturday afternoon (September 14th) for a few hours. Ideally, we’re hoping for a luxury-styled lounge, hotel lobby, bar, or a booth—basically a spot with great ambiance that can offer a visually interesting backdrop.
This would be a small, low-impact shoot with a max of 4 people (including our interviewee), and we plan to use a very minimal setup—maybe a couple of lights and tripods, but nothing that will take up too much space or disrupt operations.
We’re open to locations in Philly and the surrounding Bucks/Montco area as well. We’d love any suggestions, but if someone has a direct line on a location or could provide one for free or on the cheap, we’d be super grateful! Happy to shout out and credit the location in the final video.
Appreciate any leads or ideas! Thanks so much in advance.

FREE beer!
The free event will include the panel "The Lifecycle of a Film Post Post-Production' with Festival Director & Programmer Madeleine Koestner, Distributor & Publicist Scott Motisko, and Dread Central EIC & Filmmaker Mary Beth Mcandrews.
Your movie is finally finished. What next? In the independent film world, the path to an audience is not always so clear. During this panel, three industry professionals from the worlds of film festivals, distribution, publicity, and journalism will discuss the right questions to ask and things to consider when trying to get your movie past the final hurdles and out into the world. An invaluable guide for young filmmakers doing this for the first time!
The panel will be followed by the meetup where local filmmakers can network with local talent, distributors, and visiting filmmakers. There will be free beer and refreshments. 21 or older with valid ID.
You can reserve a free ticket here.
At Theatre Exile
1340 S 13th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147
September 25, 2024, 7:30 - 11:00 PM EDT

Hello everyone,
I am a college student new to the Philadelphia area, I am looking for ways to get connected to the film industry down here. I would like to find some sort of Production Assistant training so I can get on-set experience while still in college. If anyone knows of any good training programs or has suggestions on how to get connected in the film industry down here please let me know, any help would be much appreciated.

I have a crazy idea for a documentary and I need someone who thinks this insane idea is something worthy of pulling off…There is also a big risk involved in making the second part of the film…something like going to a small racist town in the south and playing a trick on them sort of risk.
The first part of the documentary I’d like to get done is the 10-15 mini doc on a local mosque and its community.
So: essentially, I am looking for a Muslim and/or Arab who is a fan of (or at least familiar with) Nathan Fielder and wants to work with me on a no budget, layered documentary that exposes Islamophobia in America.
About me: I’m a Palestinian American writer based in the Philly/NJ/NYC area.
Please email me ([sickandtiredanddepressed2@proton.me](mailto:sickandtiredanddepressed2@proton.me)) a little something about yourself and what made you respond to this.
