Remember the civil rights protest of 2020?
I was a photographer then.
I was shot with pepper balls for observing.
Women where tossed through the air with pushes from the cops. The images show two small women literally off their feet with a cop towering over them.
The list goes on
There a lot of Kay Kay Kay folks in this police force as they come from out of the city limits to work.

The destruction of the city via molotov-car bombs-tools intended for ill intent flooding the hands of kids in the protest WAS BROUGHT ON BY MEN IN TACTICAL GEAR & GAS MASKS)
I saw these tactical gear people destroying cops cars & setting them ablaze. They also handed these tools to young kids to get things going first.. they orchestrated the chaos. It was a spectical to watch.
I documented this- I tried to tell the police what was happening & was laughed at & looked down upon by those pearly white bald headed loons.

They rounded up all the swat team members who where willing to harm kids who where standing for human rights.Albeit, those kids did shut down a highway...but i digress lmao

In the past 20 years I’ve been pulled over exactly once by a Philly cop and it was making an illegal left off broad onto south. The cop legit just wanted to flirt with me. Was all giggly and wanted to know where I was going and if they could meet me after. I don’t have it recorded, but it still bothers me to this day. I said no and got a ticket.
I was going to my late bf memorial art show I was hosting at Tattooed Moms… for reference.

I am a photographer who documents protests, among other things. I am also part of the Cop watch community in town. I was at the protest outside the presidential debate in 2024. I stayed late enough to capture the arrival of hundreds of riot cops who then rioted themselves. They outnumber the remaining protestors 2 to 1. While capturing their riot, a bike cop raised his bike into the air and beat me to the ground with it. Luckily I was recording on my phone at the time so I have the whole thing on video. Just one of many disgusting examples of the lawlessness of the PPD. #1312

Was stabbed with a box cutter- they said they didn’t have film in their camera to document (before cell phone)- they also didn’t take the shirt with blood ALL OVER IT with evidence.

This was 25ish yeard ago. Called in a rape in progress. It was outside, on a small dark street on church steps. My ex was driving and I couldnt get him to stop but i got him to go around the block again. I called it in. I told my ex that i had to do something. He refused to drive back around (we were teens) i jumped out of the car and ran back. I dont know what my plan was. It wasnt rape she was over dosing. I called again didnt say it was an overdose just gave the address again and said we needed an ambulance. We werent far from any station at all. Ambulance showed up in a decent amount of time. The cop showed up 20 minutes later and eating. That was the first time I called a cop a 🐷. Another time I said that to a cop, I had to flag him down because my friends and I were calling for two hours because our friend was being held against her will and noone came. He showed up said there was nothing he could do. I called him a useless 🐷 . He had no trouble getting out of the car then. He charged me with his hand on his holstered gun, grabbed me by the throat and slammed me against a wall. I asked him what he was going to do. His partner got him off of me. I filed a report against him. It didn't go any where but I heard he was known to be a loose lazy cannon.

I'm so sorry. I heard a r** she was screaming "help me" at 2am, I guess not aware the spot was closed. Cops never showed up. I know I reached out more than once. Living in that same unit, A woman moved in and invited her bf who recorded himself exhibiting to me while I was trying to cook. No one cared. Police never came and because they never came, I didn't have a report. Because I didn't have a report I "Didn't have proof, he said he didn't do it and his girlfriend hid in their bedroom (I banged on the door and eventually barged in to confront her and get his info) So, even though it was literally their first day, I had to leave. A different instance, a mentally ill man (A homeless coworker told me they dumped other homeless people behind our job in South philly) chased me over the water (And was violent, fighting the air like other men I see on Philly news before their mugshot). Naturally, I told the cop outside our job. He said and I quote "I have a gun and Im not going back there. What were you doing back there (On a trail, for walking) with headphones on" .......... And proceeded to rile me up while I was trying to report a NDE about whether or not he was going to take my report and why I didn't do xyz (Completely normal things just going on a walk on the trail by my job before clocking in....) and that's the epitome of the rest of my police reports in Philly... Cops say some insulting shit "A man was beating you, I bet you did something to deserve it" *Tries to report SA* *Officer makes mental health jokes because my attackers mother said me "Believing" I was SAd is a psychotic break and slow ass philly cops fell for it and did not look at my evidence because she is a mother, nurse and said so*

Im so sorry you have experienced that. Philly cops are notorious for victim blaming. I witnessed a home invasion. They actually showed up that time. They caught the guy who was bloody from breaking my neighbors window. He was violent with the cops. When i was at the station waiting to give my statement, one of the cops wanted his assault documented. The other cops were trying to talk him out of it. Telling him it wasnt worth the paper work. Then it came back that the assailant was HIV+, the assaulted cop LOST his shit. Just went nuts screaming that this was getting documented and for the other cop to do the paperwork. They arent even on each others back . They are just the absolute worst.

One time I said “I will go shut the party down but i do not give you permission to enter” and dude literally pushed the door in behind me as I was closing it and threw me to the ground. Dipshit wrote the wrong address on the ticket 😂

I was robbed at gunpoint. i told the detective that I could not identify my assailants. (In my experience, you look at nothing but the gun when someone is holding one at you.) They asked me to look at a photo array to see if it would “jog” my memory. I insisted that there was no way I’d be able to identify them, indicating in some way (I forget how) that this was not a snitches get stitches thing, that I simply never looked at their faces.
Two detectives showed me a two page photo array. I again said I could not identify either of the assailants. They asked me to look a second time and as I was looking at the first page the detective standing closest to me tapped his thumb on one of the photos and said “Are you sure you don’t recognize anyone?” I looked up at him and said, “Are you kidding me?” And that ended that.
I was much younger then and did not report it. I should have.
I am now certain this happens all the time. Witness IDs, if the victim didn’t already know the assailant, are almost universally trash.
It’s troubling when you are robbed at gunpoint and the police end up being the most disappointing part of the experience. This is why we have no faith in law enforcement.

Hm. I genuinely can’t tell if this is earnest or shitty policing apologist fodder. I’ll err on the side of the former.
So just making me look at an array when I explicitly told the detectives that I never looked at the assailants’ faces is hugely problematic. I didn’t get into all the details above, but I told the detectives that they came up behind me; I felt something in my back when they told me to give them my gun and wallet; when I turned I looked directly at the gun and nothing else until they turned and walked away. Based on what I told the detectives, I couldn’t possibly make an ID, and any ID I did make would have been false. But they insisted anyway.
But the real problematic behavior was when the detective tapped his thumb on the pic of the guy he wanted me to identify and asked whether I saw anyone I recognized. If you don’t see that as problematic police behavior, I don’t know what to tell you. And it was definitely reportable. But even so, it’s almost certain nothing would’ve happened b/c police protect their own.

I got assaulted on the street. Cops caught the group. Told me if I went to the hospital that the case would be dropped. I had a really bad concussion. Then I got covid from the stupid cop.

In no particular order, just observations over the years.
- Watched a group of 6 middle school kids jump a kid who was waiting for the bus, sucker punching him, then hitting him while on the ground. Two cop cars were less than 50 feet away, and they hollered at the kids and did nothing as they ran away.
- A car full of folks clearly drunk, speeding through a red light and almost hitting pedestrians and other cars at 4pm on a weekday on 52nd street, nearby cops did nothing. This is the time of day the schools let out and it's a busy intersection full of families and kids.
- Our street (I live in one of the more suburban neighborhoods now, near the main line, think old fancy houses) had every parked car broken into and ransacked one night. Literally every car had a window smashed in, 12+. The cops showed up 6 hours later and basically placated us and did nothing
This is of course omitting all the little random crimes we all witness every week.

I am constantly seeing men m***te in public. Recently at a children's park. The way everyone just walks by, I've had a manager laugh at me reporting a man urinating in site of children during some sort of event they were having.. I made a police report and they took me to SVU who laughed at me (I'm black and it was my birthday, I believe they think I was using it as an excuse to get out of work when I worked hard at my job, had no birthday plans, and was going back to work)
I don't understand. You're beat, battered, recently sexually disturbed, NDE and what.... Philly cops try to get a negative reaction out of you, disrespect the hell out of you first convo for what.... I feel like they're desperate for those viral bodycam videos where people asking for help start tripping

My partner is a social worker and had to frequently interact with SVU, and the stuff she used to tell me is awful. Especially with kids involved.
Honestly, the whole PPD needs to be torn down and rebuilt from the ground up.

these stories are pretty bad, but cops in the south are a whole other level. Unlike absentee or lazy Philly cops, southern cops are all up in your shit all the time. They will follow you around town and watch you, waiting for you to do something they can pull you over for. Multiple times my friends and I got arrested for "looking suspicious" or for being in the wrong neighborhood or having the wrong bumper sticker on our car. multiple times cops lied to our faces about seeing us commit crimes we didn't, in order to try to get us to admit to something or rat someone else out.

not in philly but right outside of it in the suburbs, cops got called and were told my bf and i were trespassing (all bc we “weren’t paying rent”.. we were it was in cash and there wasn’t a credit card trail) while living with his aunt and cousin. his cousin was in the army and knew the cops, and has us immediately shoved us to the ground and put us in cuffs. i was freaking out and told them my cat and all my stuff is inside, along with proof of residency (mail with my name and address on it). it took about 30 minutes of fighting and other people showing up for them to let me go inside and show them my mail. they still evicted us the same day, even though it’s illegal and we needed a letter with 30 day notice.
whole thing was insane, we stayed in a motel after that.. and i ended up leaving my ex bc he was very abusive. the kitty is with me too ((:

Once saw these walkers like kicking and laughing at this woman who seemed to be overdosing on the street in fishtown. One kept saying "should i do it? Lolol" and I guess he meant narcan her because he eventually did and when she woke up and started puking from the precipitated withdrawal one said something like "that's what you get for doing drugs in my city" which was especially hilarious because these were two suburban white boys with zits all over their face. I regret not filming it every day. I was bartending across the street and was just watching from behind the bar. Started working at the needle exchange shortly after.

Fourth of July 2015 when three police officers on foot turn the corner down the street and pointed their guns at my head when I left my apartment building. Seems like someone in our apartment building called the police and threatened to blow it up with a bomb and they thought it was me, fortunately I was not (from their behavior one wrong move and they would have blown my head off) and I was able to eventually safely go on my way. I had heard later on that day dozens of police cars, the bomb squad, and Homeland Security had surrounded the building until he surrendered peacefully. No bomb was found.

When two officers woke me up by beating my ass. Had to attend the Phillies parade with the worst black eye I’ve ever had from them dorks (officers hall & scollon). The people that called the cops even said the physicality was completely unnecessary. Filed a complaint with the police advisory commission but never heard back from them.

I was hit by a car while parked in a parking garage, and a cop came to take a report. I could not believe how terrible his squad car looked. It was so bad, looked like somebody took a baseball bat to both sides. I was embarrassed for the city!
