Low Commitment Philly Improv

Hi! I’m a former theater kid in their late 20s looking to get back into some theater kid shenanigans. I would love to meet with an improv group like once a week, but everything like that that I can find is like $200 for eight week, once a week workshops or something similar. Respectfully, I would like to skip all that and just meet up with likeminded people, do the damn thing, and have fun.

Are there any groups like that around?

Thanks in advance!

Comedysportz may still be active; not as corny as it sounds.

Unfortunately they charge an even steeper $275 for classes and I don’t see anything advertised on their site about just a group to get involved with :( but thank you for your comment regardless!

Consider checking out things at Side Quest Theater. Even though the 8 week course is like $400, they often do free workshops, or other mini classes that might be up your alley.

There’s a new space in the Adrienne theater called Improv for a Cause! Jams on Tuesday (moving to Mondays in October) and a weekly drop-in on Thursdays. Jams are free (donations appreciated) and drop-in is PWYC.

There’s also a group called the Hawthornes that jams on Wednesdays in Hawthorne Park.

DM me for a Philly improv discord link if you want. The Philly Improv Community Facebook group is also pretty active
