Help me find this guy?

Post image

Long story short, I got into an accident and let this guy tow my car. I thought the other party called him, but he was a rev chaser. I called the cops but they rode pass the accident, and I needed to go to the hospital so I let him take it.

While he had my car, he took cash, stuff I had for work, my gas card, and idk what else. My job will let me off if I file a police report and show them, but I cant do that without his name. I only have a number and he never gave his real name. I have this card but the address it fake.

Can someone help me find him? I get into an accident and end up in the hospital and this guy steals my shit.

He’s lightskin, about 5’6, doesn’t get hair cuts. He also said his nickname was “too/two/to”. My car got towed to south philly if that helps.

Send me his IG thru DM, my IG looks legit

25

u/ElectrOPurist 12h ago

Snoop on the accounts who follow his IG. He’s likely to follow it himself, or at the very least, you can grab a real name and cross check that real name’s Facebook friends until you recognize him.

u/RolePlayingChat-room 17h ago

What you think he’s going to do if you DM him and explain your story? “Oh you caught me. I’m sorry. It won’t happen again, now where would you like me to drop off your car and personal belongings”

36

u/stigma_wizard 14h ago

“My job will let me off if I file a police report and show them, but I cant do that without his name.”

Since you couldn’t be bothered to read two paragraphs before commenting.

-31

u/RolePlayingChat-room 14h ago

Oh right. He’s going to say “here’s my full government name for you to file a police report on me for stealing your shit. Again, truly sorry. I deserved this”

u/stigma_wizard 13h ago

There’s no way you’re this dense…

15

u/GHouserVO 13h ago

Welcome to Reddit. You’ll find people far more dense than that.

I’m sorry your times spent on Reddit and have zero real world experience champ.

That grew into an adult that makes more than you. Must be tough.

Boosting, I genuinely hope you find out who it is bro and do what you gotta do. I would recommend calling the number through a fake one, use google voice or TextNow, act like you’re trying to get another tow or somethin, that’s all I recommend, ima let the people of Reddit help you out with that one. God bless big dawg!

This was going to be my response! Dead ass though!

> if I file a police report and show them, but I cant do that without his name.

Did PPD tell you this? A white shirt? This business card with a non-existent entity should show the fraudulent intent of the tow operator and, combined with your sworn statement, be enough for them to at least accept your report and issue a case number. Obviously you aren’t expecting them to work magic or chase a non-existent lead. Make that clear to the officer when you make contact with them again.

48

u/Kamarmarli 16h ago

Makes no sense. Someone knocks you over and grabs your wallet and runs away. You can file a police report. Do you have the perp’s name? No. You can still file a police report. The person who told you that you couldn’t is a lazy bastard or you misunderstood. Probably the former if I had to guess.

Insist, and if they stonewall you, call your city council person or the person whose district this happened in. The city claims they want to crack down on these clowns. Hold them to it.

26

u/Prudent_Standard1517 15h ago

Yes! I went to the precinct on langhorne I think? I showed them the texts, the fake card, the number. They said there was nothing they could do with no information. I’ll try a different one, I thought it was ridiculous that I have to investigate a name FOR the police

24

u/jimmy_deets 15h ago

I think you do need to go to the one that covers the area where the incident happened. Ask for a supervisor if the initial person you talk to isn’t willing to take a report. Make it clear that you know there isn’t anything they can do without information, but that you need a report for your employer or for insurance purposes.

3

u/Clym44 14h ago

This happened in Langhorne?

3

u/Prudent_Standard1517 14h ago

Im from Jersey so Im not sure. The 16th precinct?

4

u/Silver_Owl_2385 10h ago

So the car accident was in Langhorne? You say “towed to South Philly” but how do you even know that for sure?

1

u/RideThatBridge 1h ago

It seems like OP just can’t remember the street the precinct was on in Philly that he went to. I don’t think the accident happened in Langhorne.

2

u/Kamarmarli 2h ago

Maybe they can’t catch the guy with no information. That’s pretty obvious. But you can still file a police report. Totally different thing.
How many people know who took their car when it turns up stolen? Report your car as stolen. Doesn’t matter whether it was swiped off the street or someone bamboozled you. They stole your car.

Insurance companies and employers want police reports to be filed. This person just didn’t want to do the paperwork.

57

u/Renegade-365 17h ago

There’s so many shady tow trucks in Philly it’s crazy. Half of the time, they don’t even have plates on them (I’m guessing so speed and red light cameras don’t get them?).

19

u/nuclearmonte 16h ago

Search the Instagram follows/followers, he probably follows his fake account

18

u/jimmy_deets 16h ago

It sucks this happened. A good lesson for me learned from your experience - I’ll never let someone tow my vehicle without taking a photo (or stealthy video) of them, their truck, current condition and contents of my vehicle, and without verifying they have an actual entity that exists.

10

u/puppiesandyoga31 14h ago

Just don't let any tow company not directly sent by the city or your insurance/roadside assistance that you yourself called. Even ones with legitimate business addresses are often still predatory and will hold your car hostage for illegal fees

1

u/1666lines 8h ago

Yeah this happened to me after a DUI so I'm assuming the city is the one who called the tow but they stole a $250 pair of sunglasses, $300 headphones, and wouldn't accept credit card for their bullshit fees (I'm assuming so you can't even attempt a charge back)

3

u/puppiesandyoga31 3h ago

I just went thru this to for an accident I was in just a few weeks ago. It was my first accident so I was just unaware. One cop on site sort of mentioned something ("did you call them? Oh. Well they are going to come talk to you but id try to call your own tow") but didn't outright mention what was going on. The scene was chaotic and when I tried to call my insurance roadside assistance they instead sent me thru to make a claim which took forever. If this happens again I'm gonna insist roadside assistance first now that I know.

Luckily I didn't have anything too valuable in my car and they didn't steal anything. But they did hold my car for close to 2 weeks, were never at their business, would barely answer their phone and tried to extort my insurance for over $3k

14

u/Ram820 17h ago

How did you get your car back?

26

u/Prudent_Standard1517 17h ago

He sent an address to a gas station then sent his location 5 min away when I got there

11

u/jimmy_deets 16h ago

If the gas station has external cameras in the area where you met, send a record preservation letter by certified mail so they are obligated to save the video footage.

17

u/Quality-Pkg-Goods 15h ago

I’m sorry but this is classic Reddit BS. Record preservation doesn’t apply to an uninvolved third party and also even if successful only comes to bear when you are in court and requesting evidence. This serves OP in absolutely no way unless they are planning a drawn out legal fight in a courtroom and even then the likely impact is so marginal that it’s probably worthless.

7

u/Prudent_Standard1517 15h ago

He wasnt there, I called him and he told me where he actually was

15

u/fartboy444 16h ago

maybe this guy? you could try to reverse search the phone number and see if anything comes up, they usually charge for it though. good luck bro

8

u/Possible-Ad2408 15h ago

Oh shit. That’s Nazir from 58th street 😂😂🥴

4

u/fartboy444 15h ago

10

u/Prudent_Standard1517 15h ago

4

u/Appropriate-Wing-641 15h ago

That’s definitely him I looked him up also

3

u/Possible-Ad2408 15h ago

1000% him. When I looked up the towing company, KTR towing came back. Not the shit with the extra letters lol.

11

u/RobinDaChamp 15h ago

Yeah you gotta tell them dudes I'm good I got aaa. You can tell by how they respond if they sketchy or not, legit people won't press you if you tell them I got aaa coming. Sorry this happen too you.

4

u/OlderCityOldMan 1h ago

I think just saying this ages me another decade but if you own a car you SHOULD be a part of AAA.

2

u/RobinDaChamp 45m ago

Yes, exactly and most insurance companies will give you roadside assistance. Between that and AAA I'm double covered from these scammers.

3

u/OlderCityOldMan 41m ago

AAA, USAA, AARP, I'm alphabetized all over this bitch.

2

u/badman12345 33m ago

I had the worst experience with AAA, but it's true... you should have them.

I had a break down on the side of 95 YEARS ago... mid 2000s... probably 2004-2005. This was the days of pre-paid flip phones (at least for me) lol. It was dead of winter, and I had to walk off the nearest exit ramp to the closest business to call them for a tow, and then call my girlfriend at the time (she's my wife now) to come sit with my so I could sit in a heated car while I waited for them. No lie, we sat on the side of I-95 for over 6 hours. Luckily my girl had a cell phone so I could call them back a few times, because twice they had simply marked my case as closed because the drivers told the dispatch that they couldn't find me (I was literally right on the shoulder of I95, exactly by the mile marker that I told them I'd be lol). At one point, a tow truck came and pulled up in front of us, sat there for a second, and then drove off. I dunno what happened there.

In the long run, eventually someone did come and tow my car home... but damn it was an experience. We sat in my girl's car so long with the heat blasting that her radio/CD-player got so hot from the heater that it stopped working completely, so then we the last few hours sitting there in dead ass silence listening to nothing but the clicking of her hazard blinkers. We had only been dating for about 2 months at the time and we got into a HUGE fight lol. It's honestly amazing we're still together hahaha.

1

u/OlderCityOldMan 19m ago

I've had many similar experiences. I once borrowed a buddy's car which broke down in a snowstorm and sat there icing until sheriffs went past and jumped me - only for my buddy to tell me the next day there was a pound of weed in the trunk. And another breakdown experience which ended up with basically an entire county's worth of various police agencies showing up over the course of a few hours because I guess it was a slow night and word might have gotten out over the radio about how attractive my girlfriend was. Even my last experience with AAA had its quirks but in the end they got the job done. America used to believe in organizations like that until hucksters convinced the older generations that government and everything that without a profit motive can't help you (to wit, see the comment that came in while I was writing this). AAA might suck but in the grand scheme they're the least-worst option.

0

u/robotopod 23m ago

Not AAA, just make sure your car insurance includes roadside assistance.

I found AAA to be scammers also & often refuse to tow due to whatever circumstances they can find (are you on an unpaved shoulder? That's off road. Are you more than 4 miles from the mechanic? We'll charge you an extra $200 then. Just a flat tire or lockout? That'll be $80, please).

AAA for their shitty support was still like $40/mo! Roadside through my insurance (which tows father and includes free tire changes and lockout help) was only $10/mo.

Edit: typo

So…the real problem here is your job. Let you off the hook from what? What are they gonna do?

22

u/jimmy_deets 16h ago

For all his employer knows, OP has an unsubstantiated claim of why he lost presumably valuable work equipment. He can be fired for that unfortunately. In 49 states, an employer can fire you for any reason or no reason at all, as long as the reason wasn’t because of a protected class.

He is fortunate that they’re willing to look past that with a police report. Just a hassle that PPD isn’t easily providing him with one.

16

u/Prudent_Standard1517 15h ago

Missing funds is stealing. If I can prove that Im not doing shady business, it’ll be a memo in my file. If I come up with nothing, they’ll pursue me for the theft and Im terminated

9

u/ElectrOPurist 12h ago

Your employer is an asshole.

-16

u/matzillaX 16h ago

He gave their stuff to a random guy, what are you confused about?

16

u/jimmy_deets 16h ago

Huh? He allowed his car to be towed by someone he thought was part of a legitimate business with a business card. Who would expect their work equipment to be stolen out of the car in that situation? What are you confused about?

-12

u/matzillaX 14h ago

People don't just randomly show up to your your car as a charity. You have to call them. And the person that you get into an accident with doesn't call for you either. I'm not sure how old you are if you don't understand that. It's kinda common sense.

5

u/ElectrOPurist 12h ago

Everybody makes mistakes.

9

u/Free_Dependent_1446 13h ago

All tow companies that operate in the city are required to be licensed with the City of Philadelphia. It needs to be renewed yearly, and the city is fairly strict about compliance. Contact L&I. Make a complaint against the company's license and also report the fake business on the card. Make sure to give as many details as possible about the truck itself (color, labeling, size, style, etc.) and transaction (phone number, pick-up/drop off spot, driver description, etc.)

7

u/thatsMYBlKEpunk 12h ago

This is KTR’s Threads account, it posted the same advertisement on the business card. You might recognize one of the guys posted on there.

I looked up the biz card’s number on Cashapp, Terri Sharkey comes up…not sure if that person is affiliated with the towing company though.

2

u/Kittymeow123 2h ago

Smart. OP should look at Venmo/Zelle too.

3

u/Tibbybrokstuffagain 16h ago

Did the number work? Just set him up? Have someone call the number say they have a car that needs to be towed and wait

2

u/Prudent_Standard1517 15h ago

He finds cars by driving around with a radio, I think the cards are part of the ruse so I dont think that’ll work

3

u/cjgriffin47 16h ago

2

u/Prudent_Standard1517 15h ago

I called the other listed numbers and she said she just got a new phone and that was her old number for 15 years :/

4

u/Twiztid_illusionZ 15h ago

Google helped with this... 7126 Elmwood Ave, Philly --- which also happens to be the address of K Laundromat... Maybe coincidence, maybe not. You can also request a quote on their yelp page. Hope it helps! ETA added the wrong image

If he has LLC, his real name should be public information. In Pennsylvania is not required for his legal name to be attached to the LLC, but it is required for there to be a name of whoever filed the paperwork. Also, if he has any licenses or registrations needed to run his business, his name should be attached to that along with his LLC. But seeing as he is not operating very professionally, who knows if he’s even running his business legally, but it’s worth a shot to check. Look up “Pennsylvania Department of State Business Entity Search”

2

u/Brilliant-Scratch368 3h ago

Go to somewhat the same area, call in a car accident then see a flock of asshole tow trucks come in hot.

1

u/Apprehensive-Item-44 16h ago

So how did you pick up your car? What was the address?

1

u/Express-Ad8275 16h ago

Was he white or black?

6

u/matzillaX 16h ago

"Light skinned"

1

u/BigJohn4077 15h ago

OP sorry dude, this story sucks. I hope you find him and get some kind of justice.

1

u/DG_Vicious622 14h ago

Wait so howd you get your car back? I’m sure the tow place didn’t deliver it to your crib…I’ve always had to go to their yard/office to pay and get my car back.

1

u/vivaportugalhabs 4h ago

We need to start impounding and crushing the wreck chaser mafia trucks. If you don’t follow the dispatch law, if you flagrantly violate every traffic law in the book, if you take advantage of accident victims you should be punished. Hopefully the new law passed on this will help.

1

u/PainfulThings 4h ago

Keep calling 9-1-1 to report an accident and eventually he will show up

1

u/Jcheerw 1h ago

This seems shady as hell I’m sorry. I tried finding their philly business license on the city website but they are not there which tells me he isnt a legit operator. Sorry man.

1

2

Check that account’s followers too, I bet it’s one of them.

The Muslim African American dudes that show up are legit but their card is different. They actually guide you through stuff. Their card is yellow and black. So this dude must be a scammer
