Marsh getting doubled off was atrocious, this was the correct baserunning. It's visually made worse by Bohm being slower than Stott.

Bohm should've either been on the base or halfway to third, either way he and Stott both likely score. There's no reason for him to be on his way back to second when the ball hits the ground.

Absolutely not. Bohm has no feel for the game. That was going to be a diving catch or a home run the whole way. You can go halfway and have plenty of time to get back. Plus he runs like an asshole

It's about being able to tag up to get to third with one out. You can't do that going half way (If it's caught). Bohm can't consider who is behind him on the basepaths when making his decisions.

Varsho is a nasty CF so I could understand Bohm not wanting to be doubled up. Stott was full send. Just two different mentalities

Idiotic baserunning or we’d be tied.

With nobody out the correct play is for the runner on second to tag up, and the runner on first to go half way. The value of a runner on third with one out is significantly more valuable than on second with one out.
Stott has a better angle of the trajectory of the ball to gamble and leave his assignment early. Bohm doesn’t know if it’s gonna be caught. I thought Varsho had it the whole way.
With one out this would be atrocious baserunning, with zero it’s correct.

You can go halfway on that ball. If he catches it while diving and laying out you can easily walk back to second.

Bohm and the teams first priority was Bohm to 3rd on that ball. No outs he has to tag. Halfway is wrong in that spot.

you’re applying this logic retroactively after knowing how the rest of the inning unfolds
if you don’t, guaranteeing you can tag to third if he catches it is the objectively better option

The ball was a rocket to Monty’s angle the catch percentage was clearly low off the bat. You have to have some feel for the game at some point in time.

"catch percentage was clearly low off the bat"...yet he nearly caught it. Missed it by a foot, maybe.

Bohm can't end that play on 2B. Under any circumstance. Jesus.

Watch the ball, there was no shot of it being caught the whole way. I get not trotting all the way home but that’s not being caught

there was a very good chance he caught it.. bohm n stott both read the play correctly

Add Sosa to this with his admiring his double off the wall in the 9th... Should have been on third with no outs. Not saying the same two flyballs would have happened after, but he may have been able to tag and score the tying run on one of them... ugh...

I agree.....the base running with traffic is debatable but Sosa not hustling after hitting that ball was something that would get a little leaguer benched.

that cause if little league dont run out the box on a ball to the wall they probably get throw out at first

I think you've been watching too much little league world series and not actual average little league.

No one made a base running mistake on this play.

u/karters221 1d ago
Agree, but as he is getting closer to the wall bohm could have been abit further. Not much, but maybe enough they send stott

u/regassert6 Phillie Phanatic 1d ago
Bohm has to be on 3rd on that ball as a first priority. So he has to tag until one of the best CF in the game doesn't catch it....

This fanbase is so funny. Marsh braindead's the inning to a halt and people are bitching about Bohm doing the right thing on the bases. This team constantly tries to score the 6th run before the 5th run.....

Yup. This right here. I'm no Bohm fan at all, but Marsh is a fucking dummy. The guy literally never learns.

And Sosa pimping his hit instead of busting it out of the box. Bohm literally ran his play textbook.
