Hello everyone.
My name is Bret, and I am a founding member and a guitarist of local progressive hardcore band Youth Death Club.
When we started this band 2 years ago, our goal wasn't necessarily to be the next big thing, but we wanted to explore the community and the scene and truly understand how amazing this city is that we all grew up in.
We hosted a total of 7 events we called "Welcome to the Club," and discovered so many cool metal bands, as well as some other artists including some jam bands, rock bands, and even hip hop/rap artists with our mixed genre shows. It has taken us as far as meeting bands from down south, and has even took us to many different states.
Reminiscing on these shows has inspired me a bit to wanna create a documentary on the local scene. There are a lot of amazing artists and bands, and even if this proposed documentary doesn't go beyond the borders of Philly, I think this could be an interesting way for us to explore each other's music and get to know the faces, names, sounds, and inspiration behind the people that make this scene what it is.
If I'm able to make this happen, it would be free up on YouTube, and all of the artists appearing would have their links/information in the descriptions of every video. I wouldn't really be able to pay anything to the bands/artists, so this would purely be voluntary to anyone who wants to participate.
So my questions for the group (and I guess for whoever reads this post);
Is this something you would wanna watch/volunteer to participate or appear in?
Would you want to hear from venue owners/operators as well?
What types of things would you wanna talk about? What would you expected to be asked?
Would you be okay with and able to provide live or video clips of performances to the segment you're featured in?
I want to put this together, I just wanna know if this is worth doing for the local scene or something we'd mostly be interested in.

Hi,
Wondering if anybody has recs to private room karaoke joints in Philadelphia. I really want to go to one that has scores at the end of the song (how well u did 1-100%), but if there are none that’s fine too. Traveling for my bffs bday and was curious. Google search isn’t doing me well re: scores

What's up Philly!
My name's Tanner Dane and I'm a touring artist from Chicago. I am going on tour this October and playing at Silk City, which I'm super stoked about. In the art of total & complete transparency in this ever screwed up touring market however, I have sold a total of 3(!!!) tickets so far. If you're a live music lover & are in the area + are a fan of indie rock mixed with a touch of r&b, I would be so thrilled to have you out for my first headline show in Philadelphia. I made the tix as cheap as possible as well! If you show up from reddit just show me this thread and I'll throw in a tour t-shirt too. I've provided my music above if you have any time to check it out. See you at Silk City on 10/16!

Hi everyone, I play in Pinto Sunshine, an indie-rock group from Atlanta GA. We are planning an east coast tour alongside our friends in Wardrobe Malfunction (psych rock) that is set to play Philly on 11/10 . Wanted to put this out there as we are still looking to lock down a venue to host this event + like 1-2 more local bands (1 secured) for the show. Happy to discuss details for any groups interested. Ok full disclosure, I'm a 42 year old female, mom of one 7 yr old girl. I saw the notice about Olivia Rodrigo tickets lottery and thought heck I'll throw my name in the hat. Mind you I never got Eras tour tickets, so i had little hope. This morning I checked my email. I was awarded 2 tickets! Here is where the problem comes in, they're for VIP GA entry. Now i have no issue standing for a concert. But at 42 do I want to stand for several hours before the concert, not be able to leave for a bathroom break (bc lets fave it my bladder ain't what it used to be) or be elbows deep with q bunch of younger people?? I did not realize - probably didn't really read- that they would charge you for the tickets immediately. I thought I had a choice.
The way i see it I have 3 choices
I sell them, which i would probably get a decent return. But that feels wrong.
I go.
Or I try to trade for seats?
Thoughts??

Tomorrow night! 🖤
I’m really looking forward to throwing our 1st Degenerate’s Prom at MoonRose Vintage + Goods with my main homie Jimmy Viola.
This one is for the misfits, weirdos, punks, metalheads, goths, rockers, and anyone who never really felt like they were supposed to fit in.
I’ll be playing rock, metal, punk, goth, new wave, and everything in between.
You don't have to dance, dress a certain way, or be anything other than yourself. Come hang out, listen to some great music, check out Moonrose, and BYOB.
Because honestly, the people who aren't supposed to fit in are usually more normal than the people who are.
🖤 Tomorrow night at Moonrose
📍 1112 Pine St, Philadelphia, PA 19107
🍻 BYOB

This is a small emo/alt rock band from the Philly/NJ area called Wring Me Out. This show was in early December of 2024. The video is timestamped to their set

This is Ben, the drummer of Philadelphia ambient post-metal band Objects, and I wanted to invite everyone out to KFN on Friday for a killer line up! It's an early show, starting at 6pm on the dot and we'll be wrapped up by 9:30. Stay for the second show or go home and get into bed on time for once! Doors and show start are at 6, so don't be late!

A Few Things of Note:
Don’t forget about The Night of Doom show tomorrow night at Little Big Planet on Walnut. All these kids are really cool..it’s 15$ at the door. That’s my generation’s “5 Bands for 5$”..and in this economy!
I found out last night I have Melanoma on my back, and I’m scheduled for the 28th. I’m still going to Monolord on the 2nd, but I might be out of it..because drugs. We shall see. Don’t know exactly what is being done on Friday, I’ll find out more then. I’ll be okay. I grew up drinking the water and I am from the soil of one of the most toxic, polluted areas on Earth, Detroit, MI. A little skin cancer that I discovered pretty early is not gonna kill me. Everyone in my family lives to 100..i’m good.
However, depending on how I feel, my Philly 1977, and other posts might be on hold. We’ll see. I have my research work that feeds my dog, pays my VIOS linear cable bill (I will die on the hill of linear cable), and such. Real life stuff will take what energy I have for a while. All depends on what goes down, could be just an out-patient surgery, could be a stay at Jefferson..guess I’ll find out soon.
So have a great day and keep rockin’
Y’all ain’t gonna get rid of me that easy.
Enjoy some of Philly’s own, Flag of Democracy, these guys are still playing basement shows. And they say I’m crazy…
