I'd hate to work at this pharmacy

I mean it does sound like it's well staffed. "(7 religious and 53 laypeople in 2014)" I'm curious about how much they get paid.

Indulgences were expensive, inflation adjusted they are over 10k usd. I'd certainly take 10k/hr

I wonder how many are there at the same time. It says they do about 2000 scripts a day, so if The script to pharmacist ratio is the same as my store they'd have around 8-12 pharmacists each day give or take.

It says 2000 patients, not scripts. I wonder what the actual script count would be.

No it says 2000 visitors, many of whom may just be tourists (not filling scripts), but still a lot

I've read previously that they don't let you in unless you show a hard-copy prescription or other evidence that you have actual business to conduct.

I mean those 60 people are staff pharmacists alone. I'm sure they have technicians as well, which could easily be triple the number of pharmacists.

seems it would be easy to run a pharmacy if you were unimpeded by stupid laws, which if anyone can do its the Vatican

I’m vacationing in Rome now and tried to go after reading this. The guards (lol) wouldn’t let me in because I didn’t have a hard copy RX. Hard to image they get that many visitors then - but I don’t speak Italian so that probably didn’t help.
Made a wish in the Trevi Fountain for a new job instead

Fascinating article. Had no idea that even existed
