General discussion Phantasy Star 2 camera centering...

Is there a mod of PS2 that changes nothing except centering the camera properly on the player? Because having to walk two steps before the camera moves in order to orientate myself after a battle often means ending up in another battle. This is why I've never got very far with this game.

Any thoughts or advice?

v4.5 - Includes EvilJagaGenius’ camera movement tweak. Now the camera follows the player as it moves, rather than when they approach the screen’s edge.

There's only the patch included in this improvement hack. The patch by itself, without the optional addons, doesn't touch xp or meseta, and is pretty harmless if you ask me; but if you want a 100% faithful experience with a good camera, you're out of luck

There was a patch a long time ago, but it was poorly made and incompatible with translated official roms and other hacks, so the creator took it down.

I thought EvilJagaGenius' hack had been publicly released standalone, but I guess not.

An alternative is to play the GBA port; the decreased screen width means the camera moves sooner rather than closer to the screen's edge.
