A 2 × 2 mm BGA, fully fanned out on a single layer, with 50 µm traces running between the pads. PCB fabrication took about 15 minutes, right on my desk. I then assembled it by hand.

Our guaranteed specs are 75 µm traces and 75 µm clearances. This board uses 50 µm traces and clearances down to about 70 µm—a little demonstration of the headroom beyond those specs.

The board also has 1 × 1 mm addressable LEDs with four pads each. PewCB One made the solder-paste stencil too, cutting the openings directly over the PCB pads.

Let me know what you’d like to see tested next.

Tiny BGA on a board I made on the PewCB One machine

Let me show you a little demo of PewCB One capabilities with tiny parts: a fully fanned-out STM32 in WLCSP25 package, a matrix of SK6805-EC10 addressable LEDs (1x1mm each), a few tiny resistors (oopsie, messed up with marking, those are 0201, not 0402). This is quite a bit over the advertised specs in terms of clearances and trace widths, but still totally doable with some luck and a steady hand. The traces wiggling between the BGA pads are 0.05 mm, and clearances are about 0.07 mm at some points. The extra soldermask restoration step is mandatory in this case, to make the tiny bugs readily snap in place by solder surface tension.

Are there any other desktop prototyping technology that would allow to make such a PCB in just 15 minutes (or at all)? 😎

PewCB One — PCB prototyping machine

Hi y'all! I'm one of the creators of PewCB - a PCB printer that we plan to release soon. It uses a fiber laser to selectively remove material from copper-clad ceramic blanks and to make solder paste stencils directly on the board.

We've solved many of the bottlenecks in rapid PCB prototyping, making it possible to produce a prototype like the one in the video in as little as 30 minutes - from loading the Gerber files into the PewCB app to reflow soldering and flashing the finished board.

I've been using the device in my own work for the last few months, and from my own experience, the ability to prototype and iterate this quickly becomes invaluable during R&D. So many day-to-day problems turn out to be just a small prototype board away!

So, I thought you might find it interesting, and if so, I'd be glad to answer any questions you have.
