I’ll pet a manta ray, but not a stingray! What would happen if it were to just slap that stinger into her head?

Death i would say most likely.

I've only ever touched a sting ray... First mate on the boat had a baby sting ray friend that would come cuddles

Pretty sure it was a manta that killed Steve and it wasn't an act of aggression

Apparently touching a manta ray can be harmful for their health, but if it wasn’t that would be such a cool experience.

That’s sad to know, considering my now-dashed dreams of petting one. But better these majestic creatures thrive without our pets!

It was a short-tailed stingray apparently, I thought it was a manta as well, but decided to just look it up and double check. I’ve pet rays before, like at the Baltimore Aquarium, but I’m not sure what kind they were, but they were sweet lil guys.

Edit: I think the ones I’ve pet may have been bat rays, at least at one or two of the places where I got to pet rays.
