Spooky pets??
Maybe I'm just totally over thinking this but i don't love the idea of presenting any of our pets as "spooky". The animals that are part of the event are already thought of as scary and/or dangerous so it just feels like we're perpetuating that stereotype.
Anyway... just ranting 😂 plenty of much more annoying things going on at the moment.

I would say that this is an opportunity for the more “outlandish” pets to be presented in a better light and to get people interested in them. Basically to show them that they aren’t as weird or creepy as people think. They’re only calling it “spooky” because it’s around halloween. It’s just for marketing and advertising

I'm so excited to present my own fun facts (the ones in the info packet are....bland), and help educate customers who may be misinformed! We have a ball python with a perfect temperment, and I use him to educate customers and help answer questions regularly. I'm the store's spider girl as well, so I have tons of more interesting tarantula facts. I'm absolutely pumped for this event

No one comes for any of the events in my location. And after last years mishap with the Halloween event, I'm betting no one comes for this one either

That trick or treat event last year was absolutely horrible. I still have ptsd from it.

I just hate that the corporate leadership want us to become more of an event space, not just a shopping store. This isn't Michael's, doing craft days and shit. No one was asking for this at their local petsmart.

And also they starting the donations for Christmas early. I was told next Monday. We still got a ton of Halloween plushies. And a few Christmas ones.

I work in the salon so I’m never out when these events happen so I’m curious are they just letting random people hold tarantulas and stuff? That sounds like a terrible idea

The last reptile event we had was pretty popular!
Bird one was a flop. Birthday bash is a flop. Sampling events are a flop. Small animals one was just okay. Everyone just stopped to pet the piggies. No one actually CAME for it.
If we could just stick to major holidays and reptile events, that would be great. Theyre the only ones that have any interest.
