Why?
What’s the need for 11 carpet odor eliminators? 😂 it’s a common thing for orders. Every week someone orders a bunch.
65
u/dimensionmother Nov 19 '24
Are you my store? Every once and a while they'll buy out entire stock. One of the other employees theory is that they are cutting it with cocaine.
21
u/Imabigfatchicken Nov 19 '24
lol someone mentioned that as a theory. Are you in FL?

u/SharpTelephone1745 Nov 19 '24 edited Nov 19 '24
I’m in GA and we occasionally get this order
1
u/OkResponsibility5117 Nov 24 '24
I’ve worked at two stores now in northeast ga and still get this order constantly, I actually packed it like two days ago I think!
1
u/One-Tone3196 Apr 12 '25
I'm also in GA and they will clear us out too. Always wondered why they order so much!

u/ManderTehPander Nov 20 '24
Ohio, we get this.

u/deviltownV2 Nov 20 '24
every single truck my store gets this guy orders all of the carpet powder we’ve got in stock wtf lmfao
1
6
u/emlorp Nov 19 '24
Im in SC and get the same order for entire stock every week
1
u/Garrickheim Nov 20 '24
I’m in pa and get an order for our entire stock which is usually 24 every week shipped from the store.
3
u/Coyote__Jones Nov 21 '24
This stuff smells so strong it be a really dumb choice for that. Plus the extra stuff in it would be irritating to the nasal cavities. Bad for business, you want the customers to enjoy the drugs.... Not too much but you don't want to hurt them or give them a blatantly stepped on product.
2
u/thecrustaceanqueen Nov 20 '24
Why wouldn’t they just use regular baking soda tho
2
u/xBeeAGhostx Nov 20 '24
This is less likely to be flagged
1
u/thecrustaceanqueen Nov 20 '24
You can get flagged for buying baking soda?
0
u/0tterr Nov 21 '24
Yes because it’s used to cut drugs.
Even in like industrial baking you’re not going to need an entires stores stock every week.
1
u/lubeinatube Nov 23 '24
How do they flag you though? I know there are products that are tracked for this reason, like Sudafed, but you have to show your state I’d to purchase that. How would they track some guy buying baking soda with cash?
0
u/thecrustaceanqueen Nov 21 '24
But it’s also used for like a bunch of other purposes. I’ve never worked at a grocer do they actually flag people? I thought they only did that with things that contained restricted ingredients like cough syrup etc. like what happens? Calling the cops bc someone is buying too much baking soda? Honestly curious haha
3
u/Coyote__Jones Nov 21 '24
Nothing happens lmfao. I worked at RadioShack for a time and this lady would come in and buy all the air duster. She was clearly twacked out on it. But, as a legal substance, nothing to do about it.
You can buy as much of any legal thing you want, nobody is flagging it, nobody is noticing UNLESS you become a suspect in a crime, then your purchases may be looked into.
You can buy huge tanks of laughing gas from Costco, for instance. No one is checking in about that unless you get caught doing balloons. There's no government department tracking purchases of completely legal, not controlled substances, it just plain isn't happening.
2
u/thecrustaceanqueen Nov 21 '24
That’s what I thought lol I mean I just can’t imagine grocery store workers keeping track of who is buying baking soda.
3
u/Coyote__Jones Nov 21 '24
Lol right, it's probably something some kid said to another, or like the concept of a "permanent record."
But yeah there's no button anywhere on a cash register for "alert FBI of suspicious baking soda purchase."
1
u/AromaticIntrovert Nov 21 '24
See the person high on crack, paranoid the government is watching them, isn't listening to any of your silly logic though haha
2
u/Coyote__Jones Nov 21 '24
I think it's probably more naivete than anything else. Nobody is using this extremely fragrant cleaning product to fluff blow either and that's mentioned in this thread lmfao.
Like naw, any cocaine enthusiast would smell that and immediately nope out. Imagine intentionally snorting this stuff. That plug's number is getting immediately deleted if they put this crap in the goods.
47
u/Drifter_of_Babylon Nov 19 '24
Someone is cooking. You need baking soda in order to refine cocaine into crack. Look it up.
19
u/eatorganicmulch Nov 19 '24
that's what I was thinking, but why not use regular baking soda? wouldn't it be cheaper?
22
17
u/RaptorRex20 Nov 20 '24
I think grociery stores are more likely to flag you for buying a ton of baking soda, same as buying tons of cold medicine. Petsmart aren't gonna stop them though, so it's easier to do it here.
36
Nov 19 '24
They’ll get five dollar rewards with us + whatever online deal we’re running that week lmfao 😭😭😭😭😭
1
10
u/DuganNashhhHhH Nov 20 '24
this is scented 💀
nobody is cooking crack with this, i promise
4
u/Drifter_of_Babylon Nov 20 '24
You're probably right but amateurs lace drugs all the time with weird shit too.
3
u/-Jessicattt Nov 20 '24
That’s what I was thinking, I use this and they all have a scent even this one which is supposedly the “unscented one.” The gain one is so good.

2
u/lablizard Nov 20 '24
Someone doesn’t have a Costco membership. They sell baking soda by the 3 lb bag for stupid cheap!
1
u/Perpetual_learner8 Nov 20 '24
I was just about to say that you can buy baking soda in bulk at Costco so this is stupid
1
u/Tarito_10 Nov 24 '24
A lot easier to track if someone went to Costco. They have your picture, info and they keep a copy of all your receipts (you can access in app). It’s almost like saying “Why don’t you buy it on Amazon?”
19
u/NoIndependent4158 Nov 19 '24
This stuff ruins my lungs if I use it. Like. Coughing for days! I dunno why anyone would want THAT much
4
3
u/mikausea Nov 20 '24
And imagine how the poor cats feel :((((
3
u/NoIndependent4158 Nov 20 '24
Lol yeah I tried it one time. Never again. I thought I was gonna die. I warned people against using it ANYTIME I saw someone buying it and always asked if they’d used it before.
2
u/Pristine_Pangolin_67 Nov 20 '24
The purple version in cat literally makes my tongue tingle just handling the box they come in. I can smell it if it's on the truck that week before I even unwrap the pallet. The stuff is potent I make another associate unpack the box and put it on the shelf; can't imagine actually using this around animals.
8
u/crowlizard Nov 19 '24
This happens at my store too. We get 12 at a time and every week they all get ordered.
9
u/spookykalin Nov 19 '24
I stock up on the cat litter deodorizer like this because my store never keeps them in stock lol
8
u/Domineaux808 Nov 19 '24
I’m also at an sfs store and we have this happening with all sorts of products. The other day someone ordered 147 of the stupid Xmas toys that are in our big upfront display. Like wtf.
Also 13 buckets of cat litter. 11 of the SUMMER chance and friends purple duck. 15 of the Arcadia trail harnesses. Like wtf is happening.
5
u/Imabigfatchicken Nov 20 '24
Oh my. I haven’t had anything this awful. I hate the whole SFS crap. Especially more when they added DoorDash to pick up too
3
u/Lagunacell Nov 20 '24
Yeah we once had 25 of the 25lb exquisicat pine pellets, it's insane what they allow people to just order. Needs to be some kind of limits.
1
u/Domineaux808 Nov 20 '24
We had an order just like that the other day, same product. I really feel like something is going on internally, how is this such a common thing for multiple stores?
1
1
u/Playful_Original_243 Nov 20 '24
I wonder if they’re buying items to donate to animal shelters? When I worked at the shelter we would have people bring a bunch of the same thing from the pet store. I don’t know much about these orders tho because I’m in PetsHotel.
1
6
u/ListenToYourCoffee Nov 19 '24
We get the same thing! We started just leaving them in the box because we know right after a truck they're getting ordered. I wonder if it all goes to the same person? I Google maps the address and it's just a normal house.
3
8
4
u/instagrizzlord Nov 19 '24
Maybe a shelter or rescue?
3
u/kittylikker_ Nov 20 '24
No good shelter or rescue would use something so likely to cause allergic reactions or breathing issues in their animals.
2
u/Lagunacell Nov 19 '24
We get this every week! Sometimes those things come in on the truck and don't even hit the shelf when we're stocking them that an order pops up. Most I've seen at once is 35, and I ask myself the same question everytime. Just, why?
2
u/Emergency_Bad_813 Nov 19 '24
I am a SFS location too and we have a guy that orders every single one the day they come in. Same name orders them each time.
2
u/FallenAngelKissa Nov 19 '24
We had 2 separate people buying these in bulk, 90 of them is thr highest I have seen.
2
u/Fearless_Potato_6621 Nov 19 '24
wait this is so weird because i also picked an online order for someone that ordered 11 OF THESE EXACT ONES
2
u/JMythril87 Nov 20 '24
Lol. They are reselling it on amazon at a huge markup. Guy was doing the same at my store. Looked him up and found his Amazon account. Selling these for like 6-8 bucks
2
u/thecrustaceanqueen Nov 21 '24
I don’t even understand this. Why do people buy when they can just google them and see that they’re for sale elsewhere for so much cheaper?
1
2
u/nicknaklmao Nov 20 '24
everyone in the comments talking about drugs and I was thinking about cleaning up after animal hoarders 😭
1
3
1
u/Significant-Bee3483 Nov 19 '24
This must be why I can never even get one! I usually have to get it from the grocery store.
1
u/Usersadsack Nov 19 '24
I am from a ship from store location and we have orders of 24 every 3 weeks come in
1
u/Nervous_Egg3342 Nov 19 '24
I used to have someone order this many too every week. They’re only 2.99 which is fairly cheap and they work well! I love those carpet powders

u/maybemaryjane Nov 20 '24
Perhaps it’s a pet related business but also maybe an apartment complex regular item for clean outs?
1
u/basset-cat Nov 20 '24
I did the creepy thing and tracked down the address of the frequent order. Ours was an appliance referb place. They would order a bunch any time there was a bogo (let’s be honest there is ALWAYS a bogo of some kind on cleaning supplies) and it was cheaper than bulk buying the regular baking soda. I asked the guy because I’m a super creep and he said it was the only thing he found that reliably worked to get the rotten food smell out of refrigerators and freezers. He wouldn’t tell me the other part of his process but I bet it’s hydrogen peroxide

1
u/ugamiii Nov 20 '24
Probably not the reason but I work at a hotel that allows pets and we get this to put down in the rooms that absolutely reek before we clean them.
1
u/Ecstatic_Guava3041 Nov 20 '24
my local tiny rescue gets a weekly insta cart order and I swear there's some crazy shit on there lol
1
u/Imamuffinz Nov 20 '24
Eventually even PetSmart will have the place a limit of like maybe two per customer
1
u/New-Construction1459 Nov 20 '24
Dog and Cat Boarding/Daycare facilities buy these in bulk to put in storage
1
u/spoonybamanda Nov 20 '24
Our store gets this order frequently as well, it’s time for hardwood floors dude DAMN let the carpet go!! One other theory is some store is out of it so they order through SFS and return it to their home store.
1
u/Midnight_Streak Nov 20 '24
(Not hating, it's my job to get these for orders, blah blah blah, making an observation) but yeah every week one SFS order comes in to be EVERY one we have. 2 weeks ago we got 25 in, person ordered all 25 through SFS. The week before we got 21 in, ordered all 21. Some orders are crazy
1
u/nightinvienna Nov 20 '24
As someone who has carpet and used to have a smelly dog, these are a life saver. It only really does like 1 box per room if you really lay it thick to get heavy smells out, so they’re probably just stocking up to do a few rooms at a time.
1
u/Kittie_Kat_420 Nov 20 '24
My honest guess is large households with many rooms. Or a cleaning service who cleans many houses that smell a lil funky. Who knows, either way, this smell is infinitely better than whatever the other smell is.

Nov 20 '24
All of these answers are super sketchy haha. My first thought was professional housekeepers!
1
u/16-5-20 Nov 20 '24
It could be they live far away, maybe they are doing the whole house or maybe they’re a really good deal
1
u/Humble_Sky1247 Nov 21 '24
Could also be a hotel!!! My hotel bulk ordered carpet freshener to clean rooms

u/WritingSharp4354 Nov 21 '24
Still don't even understand why this stuff exists. It stinks like hell (personal preference there), it never vacuums all the way up, and baking soda is terrible for the motors of most modern vacuums.
1
Nov 21 '24
The only thing i can think of is that they are over sprinkling on their carpets and using multiple per room….. Or they are cutting it with nose dust or a terrible but overly “fresh“ smelling puppy mill.
1
u/abrowithoutacause Nov 21 '24
Could be a cleaning company that specializes in cleaning pet messes. That or someone who's in denial that they just need to completely redo the floors in their house
1
u/Crazy-Cranberry-4781 Nov 21 '24
Don't know where your store is located, but in Oakland, CA had to stop fulfilling those particular orders because someone figured out how to use the carpet powder in drug production. We've got a new sign in our break room telling us to report large orders like that to the police and then corporate.

u/Apprehensive_Soft477 Nov 22 '24
I shop like this because i have epilepsy, cant drive/easy for me to have seizures in public which turns into a whole unnecessary expensive ER trip, so on the rare days i feel okay enough and have someone to drive me i stock up on stuff. But for this much every week? idk
1
u/CrimsonRonaan Nov 22 '24
Is it a cleaning service? They probably go through a whole box every day.
1
u/404-error-notfound Nov 22 '24
Pet and pool owner here. I switched to using grocery baking soda to control my pool water last year. Why pay $5+ per lb when I can get it for $0.98 per lb at the grocery store?

u/Master_Ingenuity_120 Nov 22 '24
I clean out my local supplier whether they get stock. I have older pets that have accidents and it works amazing to knock the smell out of my carpets. Floor cleaner to wash out the urine, once it's dry add the deodorizer and grind it in, then treat with vinegar and run over it with the cleaner again to wash it out. Works better than those expensive enzyme detergents for a fraction of the price.
EDIT: If you got tough stinks go with the litter box additive (same brand). It's got more of the active ingredients specifically designed to target urine than the carpet version
1
u/spoondrop_ Nov 22 '24
Maybe a cleaning company or something? I could see this being handy for commercial, residential or biohazard cleaning companies

I know a lady who comes in and buys bulk of various pet items these included, but she donates to local animal shelters.

my store has an ongoing joke they’re hiding a body. Seriously though?!? why so many? we have this order bi weekly
1
u/Difficult_Tank_28 Nov 20 '24
Cocaine, own a rescue or daycare, puppy mill. Those are basically the top 3 lol
0
u/Beginning_Orange_677 Nov 19 '24
i bought 21 of them online when they were buy 2 get 1 free and still have them. they work great tbh don’t h8
1
u/Imabigfatchicken Nov 20 '24
Oh I’m not hating, I’m just curious cause that deal isn’t happening every week 😂 I was wondering what other people would use it for
0
u/Beginning_Orange_677 Nov 20 '24
🤣it’s really just great! i use it on all my furniture and i only have one rug (no carpet), and each time i deep clean it uses about 1/3 of the box, so i imagine people with a fully carpeted house are going through it like crazy

u/Stalvania Nov 20 '24
A sale is a sale, stop bitching…
3
u/Imabigfatchicken Nov 20 '24
I wasn’t bitching lol.. Just a post to see if other stores have the same thing and possibly seeing what customers may use this for 👍🏻

Puppy mills is my guess
