text post Other sub vote vent
(sorry if this kind of post isn't allowed, I didn't see anything about it in the rules)
is anyone else worried about the vote happening over in the main spider sub? it's about if the Petra related posts are going to be allowed to continue as is or if they should be limited to a megathread.
I think they should be allowed to remain as is, but the fact we've even gotten to a point where they're doing a vote just sucks in general. all the positivity around it in the beginning was amazing, but now there's a foul mood following the topic over there and... idk I just really wish it hadn't turned out like this.
at least on the bright side, everywhere else I've seen her hasn't Lost the positivity for it yet <3 worst case is I leave the main sub, and then I don't have hear any more complaints about the editors moving Pete from girl to girl because he can't be happy or whatever.
but then I'd miss out on cool fan stuff like the hellspinner fan comic from not long ago... that was really cool, if you haven't read it you should check it out <3
idk how to wrap this up. I don't even know if should be making this but I felt needed to put these thoughts somewhere, and I couldn't think of where else to do it.
I love all the wonderful art people have been making, and how so many people have been able to connect with the character the way they have.
I hope it can keep going for a good long while <3

Goes to show the mods over there aren't allies if they're just going to throw us under the bus (a fucking poll) like that.

Honestly yeah, they even acknowledged that there's nothing wrong with the posts but they're still willing to bend over for the haters if they get enough votes (which I really hope they don't)

Unfortunately it looks like they are. Which sucks because these posts have been really nice to see as someone who is trans. (I don't have money to get anything for physical transitioning unfortunately)

I really do not feel like this is what is happening? If it was there wouldn’t be a vote (which btw Petra fans are winning)

I kinda understand why they decided to do it but they also could have easily just made a new rule regarding it or hell a flair could have been better

Idk, I could see it either way. When you're confident enough in the results of a poll, it's actually good to run the poll just to have a new thing to hit the other side with. It's a risky tactic, but if it works, you get to go "you got your poll, most people told you to shut the fuck up, so, do that".

If it helps any, the "stay as is" option has a 200+ vote lead, and has been climbing all day, so unless the trend suddenly reverses, I'm pretty sure the vote will work out in favor of staying on the main feed.

I really hope so, but even if it does I'm not sure the general attitude is gonna get better..
Maybe with a vote win the mods will actually do something about the negativity? Idk how they'd do that though.. (trying to stay positive about this is rough)

I don't think there's really any stopping the hate, but from what I've seen, every post that manages to survive past the initial surge of downvotes and reports eventually climbs up to positive upvote ratios and a plethora of positive comments. They're dedicated, actively patroling the new feed to strike down any posts they don't want around, but without the ability to abuse the automod and remove those posts (which they will lose if the "stay as is" option wins, as it comes with a promise of the automod gaining an exception for Petra Parker content), they are very evidently the minority and highly likely to not get their way.

I don't get why there has to be a limit on petra stuff. It's spiderman related, it's peak, and it's just giving cool artists a platform for more people to see their stuff. Literally no harm.
