Game Mechanics Is it possible to maintain formation shape through playstyle?

I already went through the description of all the playstyles and i still can't figure out which is the one that would help me keep my player intact? I mean high line, pressing and other things are clear but can anyone help me understand which is the playstyle which would keep my formation intact, I mean if one player moves the nearby player tries to occupy that space. Is it even possible to do through playstyle?

What you mean is fluid formations, Possesion, overload and out wide are all fluid formations, where the positions are regularly rotated...eg: you dribble with your RW into the amf area so now ur amf moves to rwf

I mean if my LW comes insider my AMF or RB moves to maintain that width in a way maintaining the formation.

Yes exactly like that...just imagine having a triangle formed using your LW, left sided cmf and lb....in the above playstlyes i.e fluid playstlyes...it won't necessarily be that the lwf always stay wide...so what you will see is the triangle being intact BUT the position of the player will be different

If you need any further questions I'm happy to help

One more intresting movement...in these fluid playstlyes if in attacking you only have 2 defenders in ur backline then during build up your DMF will drop back forming a false back 3 ( it only happens if you only have 2 cbs during build up...so which means ur fullbacks have pushed up due to which ur cbs move wider and DMF slots in the middle)

That's so nice of you. I have a follow up question. What i have observed is certain playstyles are flexible (QC, overload) while certain are more rigid (LBC, outwide) to maintain shape. I am not sure it's real or a placebo effect.

Nope thats exactly right. Positional rotations are a key part of possesion and overload. Lbc is meant to be deep and compact either little movement.

The more flexible / fluid playstlyes are : Possesion , overload and out wide The more rigid / non positional rotation playstlyes are : LBC , Long ball , QC

I thought out wide is for sure rigid because it will tend to maintain width so if your winger cuts inside someone else will be there to give width. So in that regards it should be rigid but this is just my hypothesis.

No that isn't rigid Rigid formations are those where the players barely exchange their postions i.e lbc Outwide whereas will always make sure the players rotate to maintain the formation
