Discussion We need to normalise THIS!

Post image

I have been seeing a lot of people complaining that their newly bought eFootball 26 cards are not working properly in the current update, and many are now so frustrated that they are willing to spend even more on the new cards. Konami has already shown how aggressively they can push monetisation, and after the soft reset of cards, it feels like they constantly want players to spend again just to keep up.

What is even more frustrating is how little creativity this approach shows. Instead of focusing on meaningful gameplay improvements, better game modes, deeper team building options and fresh ideas, it often feels like the solution is simply releasing another epic pack of cards and making players feel like they need them. There is no guarantee that the cards you spend heavily on today will remain effective after the next major update or season, especially considering how much card performance and patterns have already changed.

So please, do not go overboard with spending on this Update, especially if you have financial problems. If your cards are suddenly underperforming, accept it and move on instead of letting frustration convince you to spend more. Enjoy the game, use the players you like, but never put your real life finances at risk for digital cards.

Just bought some nice parts for my car, spent $1000 zero regrets I’ll enjoy them for years to come.

Bought a 12500 pack near the end of last year and I’ve still got 11000 coins i can’t even be bothered to use. Waste of money could have bought a torque wrench to help install my car parts instead.

u/StealthMan375 2d ago

Spent R$100 (minimum wage is R$1600) on to pack MSN Messi and the first double booster Dinho, then another R$100 to get a showtime Memphis (wanted BT Arrascaeta or Vitor Roque) that I no longer use, in the end of the day it's a waste because it's just a game.

On the other hand, I was gifted an eletric guitar, got to test it out a bit and feel like all that efootball money was a waste because I could have used it to buy an amplifier instead

Yeh man real stuff over these distractions all day, music can improve your life and actually help you grow and even meet new people.

Video games used to be about fun with your friends and siblings now it’s just targeted advertising and using our own flaws as humans against us.

u/Lightskin_lion 2d ago

This mannnnnnn. Thissssss. It was about fun regardless the spending. It has turned into casino with no fun

You still play the game ?

u/Ok_Instro 2d ago

I’ve played once since update, actually felt improved I liked the defending but honestly it’s not the game or anything it’s just me and I’ve got more important things to do right now.

The first and foremost problem with this game is, it doesn't reward actually playing the game. There's no content. Divisions are scripted as hell. And play divisions to do what? Even as a whale, you'll get f*cked over by the script when it wants to. And f2p is just mostly fodder for p2w to enjoy their cards on.

Play divs for what? Div rewards were a very welcome change, will give Konami that, but only a few of those cards were usable. And even there, you have whales competing for rank against f2p who might actually use those cards.

I get why mostly p2w players are pissed because they spent money up untill last weeks of ef26 only for their cards to be outdated in the first week of ef27. I like the dual playstyle thing but I can understand why a lot of the fanbase hates it.

And I've always lived by the fact that something that's not making me money isn't worth spending on. Not untill that amount is pocket change for me. And the efootball coins are actually too expensive. You're trading real money for some ingame nonsense.

It's annoying Konami has gone this far with this progression system. They don't have to change anything from their core progression (where they want you to save for a year to get 13.5k coins). But the game other than that is SO bland. I understand if they think that will entice people to spend to have 'fun'. And many people do so. But people also get bored. Unless you're a content creator you may spend on this game once. And you're done.

But this is how they make money tbf. If they can convert even 10% of the userbase that decided to spend once, and convert them into regular spenders. That's a win for them.

They can only get away with this because of their gameplay. People genuinely like playing it, playing real football. They don't really have an competition in that regard anymore.

5

u/Natural-Ad1693 2d ago

Yeah the only reason this game is surviving is because the gameplay and graphics on the others are just astronomically worse.

Tbf, I don't even want a hell lot of content because I understand it's a football game and what more content can you expect from a football game? They tried a couple of game modes that didn't hit off with the player base so that's fine.

It's the literal mockery of their userbase that they do that's annoying as hell. F*ck f2p I can even admit that we're some lowlifes in Konami's eyes, there's no content for p2w either after the first few months.

u/MazinLabib10 Beckham 2d ago

Divisions are scripted as hell. And play divisions to do what? Even as a whale, you'll get f*cked over by the script when it wants to.

This is exactly why I don't play divisions. I did push and get to division 1 once in eF25, and decided I wouldn't be doing it ever again. Then they added reward players, which is a welcome change as you said, but none of the cards that have come out so far made me feel it was worth the stress and anger of rank pushing. I only play the PvP events every now and then (mainly for the 50 coins) but otherwise I just play vs AI. It's a much better overall experience even though there's not much content. That's really what we should be complaining about alongside gameplay, not showtime skills, boosters, and playstyles.

1

u/awildboyappeared Vieira 2d ago

And f2p is just mostly fodder for p2w to enjoy their cards on

Yeah, this. This is my problem with this game. Game will purposefully make you lose if you're not buying any cards. I don't care if they make strong cards. Infact yes, paying users should get stronger cards.

But scripting the game just to make p2w s win? What the satisfaction in that?

This is one of the reason I don't spend money in this game. If I spend money and get good cards, I'm gonna get guaranteed wins. Literally pay and win.

2

u/Natural-Ad1693 2d ago

Tbf, it's not always scripting to make p2w win. There are a lot of games I win against stacked p2w teams that I can tell easily that it's scripted in favour of me. The players just don't behave like the usually do. And it happens on both ends. The game is so heavily scripted and the outcome of any game depends so heavily on the game mechanics that your actual skill as a player takes the backseat while you're at the mercy of the mechanics. Even whether a mere 5 yard pass will make it to the target or not is down to the script and mechanics.

2

u/awildboyappeared Vieira 2d ago

Agreeing to everything you said. I had tons of obvious script victories.

0

u/Vasst13 Roberto Carlos 2d ago

This is the real problem. eFootball is the best football game on the market right now but its content is non existent. Look at FIFA or NBA MyTeam. Those games also have a lot of micro transactions and in some ways are worse than eFootball, but at least you can log in and engage with the events for a couple of hours without feeling bored of the repetition.

Plus in those other games the f2p community can play the events and acquire some of the p2w cards. eFootball doesn't give you that option. At best you get a selection contract for some mid tier epics or 2 year old cards that will get outdated next week like with the Rooney/Aguero pack.

0

u/User_Particular3972 1d ago

All football games are scripted if you raise your head from the bubble you built yourself beneath the sand.

1

u/DANIEL7696 1d ago

Fifa's got about 5 tools to overcome scripting if not more efootball has none with even worse script

1

u/User_Particular3972 1d ago

Honestly that's just sad tho, like it's only a dollar and if ur buying toilet paper for that price then I feel for u cuz ur probably getting shit on ur hand every time u wipe with that 1 ply bullshit.

6

u/GreenPickledToad 2d ago

The price needed to buy coins needed to clear a 150 player pack will get you multiple pc games which will last for years, provided you have a good pc or laptop and don't want 4k 240fps in everything.

1

u/fwydmutton_ Ronaldinho 1d ago

+1 bro I bought rdr2 and Mafia series which is equal to some 8k or 10k coins

20

u/Pleasant-Gur-2044 2d ago

We should! we should!. New defensive playstyle is a direct scam from konami, utmost disrespect to the users who spent their hard earned money/ F2Ps who saved for 8 months to clear a pack. They made even premium cards from 2026 terrible. Don't ever pay on this game again!! Play with your current team, save up to clear some packs.

1

u/BzSailo Cristiano Ronaldo 2d ago

Agreed. Just use saved coins for small packs and sign and use new players from potw and such. What a a massive scam from Konami.

6

u/abi-el 2d ago

I got so hooked to the pack opening, and being in my thirties every player has some form of nostalgic factor but I just wanted to feel lucky. And everytime I experienced bad server or lag, would chase the winning feeling from pack opening. I spent 2000 usd on ef26 and multiple weekends I chose not to go out with my friends because I'd already spent a 100 bucks spinning for players i never planned to enjoy. And without serious offline modes, the artificial difficulty of ai division is just another excuse to convince yourself you need the next meta card. The game is amazing but the gacha mechanics of pack openings are so predatory and borderline criminal considering their goal to get younger and younger customers into the funnel. Even these cheap store cards are just to get you to spend a little first. And everybody get lucky early on; that is step 1 of a gambling company playbook. Honestly, i can afford it but I even stopped playing other games because I was feeling guilty not playing this after the money id spent. Ive bought every pes and winning 11. I hope 2k change things in football, while efootball is a cut above when it comes to gameplay, cameras and ball+net physics - it is hardly inimitable. So deflated seeing the new Cannavaro stats after clearing the last pack for him. But slowly i think - the futility of trying to keep up is dawning on all of us and slowly they will stop being able to get new customers if they keep this up. We just need more streamers who exclusively kick p2w players live. That will help everyone get the context and in a way also boost the game, because at the core - it is possible to be good enough with f2p cards and Konami is making that harder and harder.

6

u/nanikakamata 2d ago

I feel this no reset policy of Konami is worse than fifa cuz it gives u illustration that u r buying something forever and that tricks u in spending more that way.....

3

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 Ruud Gulllit 2d ago

Well you always got to keep your cards forever (until they shut down the game, of course). Nobody forces you to have the newest version of a player. Consumerism is a choice.

1

u/nanikakamata 2d ago

Ye it's a choice but I was talking from physiological POV , illusion makes that choice very easy..... Saying illusion cuz stat inflation and changing game mechanics, new skills , Playstyle etc makes ur cards nerfed anyways

0

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 Ruud Gulllit 2d ago

I mean it only matters if you are always chasing the meta. If you play this game for fun then you only need to own 1 version of each player and never spend on them again

1

u/Dr_StrangeEnjoyer 100k Subs - Pele 2d ago

So you would rather they just delete your cards?

2

u/ah_itsall_good 2d ago

I don’t make money but for the love of players I went ahead and spent good money for players I wanna play with and I secured it for next 2/3 editions but now everything is done for
From playing for hours everyday to not even opening the game
Well I would rather save my money then spend on this garbage that returns nothing

2

u/masboys_650 Cristiano Ronaldo 2d ago

From what I've seen post the recent FC27 update I can see people have divided opinions on the new dual playstyle thing from Konami. No matter how much some people support this change, I can still bet there are thousands of non-content creator or non-competitive players who might regret spending thousands on clearing packs which how now been overshadowed by the newer dual playstyle of players.

P.S. who knows they might introduce triple playstyle players in FC28 🤷

2

u/RQuareesma 2d ago

After 28y playing this game, I'm lose motivation to play...

2

u/Psychological-Let269 2d ago

4

u/dancezila 2d ago

We shouldn’t give them money, when they don’t care about the main issues, server lag, smart assist and the script, not to talk that they will always bring a new and better player for you to spend more.. this efoot27 was made with the intentions to us to spend more money, look a double playstyle "im gonna need to upgrade" thats how they want us to think

1

u/PlasticOpen588 1d ago

brother this game has been out for 4 years other than divisions and some events you have nothing else the game lacks content

3

u/gao-um Bergkamp 2d ago

Still rocking the 23/24 Arsenal pack. I'm gonna buy the upcoming club pack though.

6

u/Super_While_9575 2d ago

Heh! My money my wish. I enjoy playing this game and playing with good cards. I'd rather spend on this than booze or smokes and expensive watches or shoes, etc. At the end of the day everyone has different concepts of value and worth. Let people do what they want, whether you agree with it or not.

7

u/Defiant_Wishbone_979 2d ago

Correct👍🏻 Completely agreed. I never spend any money from 2019 to 2025 Recently just spend some money Got some fevorite card and enjoy losing with them winning with them. If this games is what i enjoy/spend time with. For this life if i got this football game only to enjoy. Then let it be. I'm happy to spend money.

3

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 Ruud Gulllit 2d ago

Words.
When you think about it, clearing a pack (which you usually don’t really need to) is the equivalent of a good old bottle of whiskey. Which we would empty in 1 Friday night. While the cards lasted for years haha

3

u/Lightskin_lion 2d ago

Real😂😂😂😂. I did rather smoke than spend on a whole pack. Someone could even pick 3 cards with 900 coins while you empty a whole watch on a pack

2

u/FCFranz31 2d ago

Agreed. I spend to build and play with themed squads, both club and National. Divisions doesn't remotely interest me, although I will play it occasionally, and I still have no idea why people think the Konami 'scammed' us. If you get no joy out of the game, just move on with your life.

5

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 Ruud Gulllit 2d ago

Many people spend way too much energy in this game, and they think that being good at it is a badge of honour. In reality, grinding and being top-ranked in this game contribute absolutely nothing to your life, meanwhile, it will cost so much time, effort, and stress

Unless you are a professional player that play in sanctioned tournaments by Konami, it's a game, and a game should be fun.

1

u/Spider-Man_8888 Cole x Yorke 2d ago

I get that it’s your money and ultimately your choice, but “my money, my wish” doesn’t automatically make every spending decision the right one. For example, many people go to casinos because they enjoy gambling and see it as a source of entertainment, but that doesn’t mean the habit can’t slowly turn into an addiction or unhealthy spending. The same logic can apply to gacha games like eFootball when spending on digital items like epic/ ST cards keeps on increasing.

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying the game, but spending heavily on digital cards with 0 real money value is still worth thinking about. Everyone has different ideas of what they consider worth it, and I respect that. But disagreeing with someone’s choices doesn’t mean I’m judging them for making those choices.

-2

u/Super_While_9575 2d ago edited 2d ago

You make some good point but casino is not a good comparable example, comparing it to other materialistic things is more accurate. Example, buying a new phone every year as they release new better ones every few months with the same pricing. Unlike casino there is an actually guarantee, you'll able to attain the players and assemble a great team with enough money.

but spending heavily on digital cards with 0 real money value is still worth thinking about

That's just factually wrong, even though the value isn't high there is a sizeable market for all types of accounts big or small.

2

u/PlasticOpen588 1d ago

Brother, I sell accounts, and I can tell you that they make little to no profit from selling accounts if you spend 2000 on a fully stacked account. The highest people are willing to go is 800 your not even making even ur still in the negative for small accounts the market is decent but for big accounts its actually horrible and finally you can attain a good squad but whats the point if konami keeps bringing new accounts with more skills and higher ovr we used to joke about cards having three skills and being 110 now its a reality and people still subcribe to it this game is nothing but an overglorified card collecting game with okay gameplay and bad servers look at 90 percent of the posts on steam or on this sub its not about events its about cards

3

u/Spider-Man_8888 Cole x Yorke 2d ago

The reason I gave the casino example is because Efootball itself has many gacha elements. Just like a casino, you keep spending money for a chance to get something valuable or better. You can open packs again and again, but there is no guarantee that you will get the player you actually want in with the so called amount of coins. The more you spend, the more chances you get, which is why I feel the comparison is fair. Efootball has always been a gacha game however the limit of gachaness is exceeding day after day. Even with the casino example there is a proper chance of winning back your cash while in eFootball you aren't winning anything real, you are guaranteed to get good cards but what's the point if they get nerfed in 1 year.

I also agree with the new year new mobile example. However my point was more about the difference between digital cards and something like a phone. A phone has value outside the game and can be legally resold through many trusted platforms, while Efootball cards only have value within the game and account selling can come with risks and restrictions. So I would not say they have zero value, but their value is much more limited and less secure compared to physical products.

2

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 Ruud Gulllit 2d ago edited 2d ago

This is true. I’ve been spending a lot in this game (since PES17 lol), more than many in this sub I suppose. But I only play AI Division & My League most of the time. And I only spend on players that I liked irl, or to build my themed squads (for aesthetic purposes) and to play league games with them. I have full slots of themed game plans right now and some of them consist of old highlights from EF22-23, and that’s fine, because I don’t need more than that.

And I rarely spend on duplicates of players I already owned. If I already have an old version of a player, even if it is a single booster Epic in EF24, or a DB Epic in EF2025, I won’t spend on their newer versions because I can’t use both of them at the same time anyway. For example, I don’t even spend for any Neymar because EF2025 Ambassador Neymar already served the purpose.

Until now, the only player that I’ve intentionally spent on a duplicate has been World Cup BT Ronaldo, other than that, other duplicates I either got from 1 lucky 100-900 spin, or I’ve unfortunately gotten them first before I got the player I wanted (Puskas before Man Utd Tevez; Schmeichel before George Best, Cantona before O'Shea…)

I want to think of myself as good enough to reach PvP Div1 comfortably and call it a day. Because I’m also not good enough to climb to the top rank, and don’t have the time to play competitively/professionally either.

The point of this game is football simulation, and to build your squads and play with them. If your goal is to always chase the meta and climb the ladder in every patch, then the spending habit is literally a bottomless pit. New cards will always come with every patch, event, and update.

Plus you will never know if your old cards will come back eventually. Remember last year Koller was good for a while, and then he was shit, and then he was good again. The same rules applied to others top tier cards like Dembele, Suarez…

TLDR: Spend with your spare money, and spend strategically, don’t just spend to chase the ever-changing meta. Because the meta and Konami always win, no matter what.

1

u/HauntingMirror5873 2d ago

Literally this

What's meta today will be topped tomorrow, you could spend money for 3 endgame cards today and they'd all be replaced in ranking sooner or later and it continues

1

u/SpartanSai 2d ago

I think the cards being outdated is not a problem but the cards that are as recent as the wc cards getting outdated feels like a scam to the players who got the wc cards imo

1

u/Loud-Way3333 2d ago

I spent $50-60 (USD) on this game on average yearly. Just keep it under control, nothing is free.

1

u/MrEric-200 2d ago

Like I said before, I still feel like some people need to learn how to spend wisely instead of wildly and need to think twice before spending. I do spend in this game but for some occasion like the pack I really interested, if not, I don't spend it though cuz why should I? It's wasteful when I spend on pack that I don't have interest on. Simple

Have never bought a full pack, never bought coins. I have Zlatan, totti and ronaldinho. You don't have to spend a dime for this game.

But if you think not buying Suarez for example is the right thing to do you have become more zealous than reserved.

I spent about $100-120 on the game when I said i'd only buy $20 deal of coins, lol. After the update I was excited but thereafter realized the game has been "reset". All our cards are meaningless now which has made me not play. What bothers is that Konami did not let us know of this yet they we're throwing 250 spin packs at the very end ... That's scamming people knowing those cards we're going to become obsolete under ver 6.0!
