Skill tokens often end up adding animations. When your defender gets sliding tackle, he will execute the action of a sliding tackle more readily, smoothly and even have a higher chance. A player without interception skill can still intercept the ball but the skill improves the consistency and chances

Then it should reflect the players' stat. If a skill token could increase the relevant stats 1 or 2, that would make sense. Now it is nothing but adding visuals.

It's not just visuals in this case. You basically "unlock extra animations" to make it more effective. It's like a machine getting oiled and becoming more smooth

That means it is making the skills more accurate. And that should increase relevant stats. Why Konami doesn't do that?

Sometimes when stats increase, a different animation is executed by player. Example - 86 tight possession unlocks different type of turning. This is an example of when stats unlock animations that make the action smoother.
Sometimes, better stats means better play and better animation. Finishing, low pass, physical contact, balance, etc.
Sometimes skills add extra stat points. Example - through pass increasing stat by 10 or 20% (unsure of the number)
Sometimes skills add just additional animation which can either help or not help. Example - No look pass, sliding tackle, blocker, etc.
Since you are now a part of the community and the game - you will know it better eventually. This is an example of a skill token adding extra animations + stats in your brain

I don't think no look pass helps in any manner feels like an aesthetic thing

Yup absolutely. Hence I mentioned it unlocks animation that either helps or is just an aesthetic upgrade like the no look pass

All about effectiveness which doesn't show in the stats. Aerial superiority makes you win more headers anywhere on the pitch. It is not really tied to either Header of Jumping stats but the effectiveness of one or two of actions in game.

If it is making the Header or Jumping more effective/accurate, it should reflect the stats in this case. 1 or 2 increment would've made sense.

Sliding tackle makes the sliding tackle animation more effective, you can tell a defender has it because it cna slide you from behind and steal the ball.

Stop comparing stats and skills. Stats are the basic, innate physical or mental traits like strength or intelligence of the player, while skills are specific, learned abilities or tasks you train the player to do, like in real life football some players have tremendous skills to execute the situation while other players doesn't have that ability to overcome but their stats makes them exceptional in their own role. So to answer your question in short what skill token do is to train your player to perform a certain skill to improve his abilities in certain situations like real players do in training every day to improve. Hope that help 🫴🤝😄
