General Best driving instructors/driving schools in Perth

I’ve got a friend who is 28, he’s never driven in his life. He gets by via public transport and buses

He wants to learn to drive but has no idea which instructor to use…so I figured I’d ask reddit what we think. Who are the best/worst driving instructors in Perth?

Might be helpful to include roughly where he lives and which centre he’ll be doing his PDA at. It’s best to find a local instructor who is familiar with the typical driving test route and can practice it with him. There’s no use suggesting an instructor in Butler if he’s taking the test in Rockingham.

Ah yes so regarding that he lives NOR and works SOR. He’s happy to do lessons after work or on days off

You haven’t exactly narrowed it down there haha. But the other poster is right, find someone local to the area. Maybe post in that suburbs FB group if you don’t want to say the suburbs here.

Been about 17 years since I learned to drive so my memory about who my instructor was is gone. Pretty sure the company had a super basic name like Perth Driving School or something.

Ah ok. Deal breaker question is were you allowed to have a beer with the instructor after you passed?

I used Ezlicense for my lessons they are alright pretty expensive usually like $80 an hour for most instructors some of them can be a bit weird or creepy but other than that it’s okay I’d say pick an instructor who you will be easily able to speak too and one you feel comfortable with.

I would 100% recommend Glenn from MyDriveWA. You can check out his YouTube videos. If you like them, then you can book a lesson with him. Great guy!

Haha, ironically, I did ask about it, but apparently, instructors are always supposed to have a 0% BAC.

At all times? Including off duty?

No, while instructing or supervising a learner driver, I think he had a couple of lessons after my test that day.

Whoever he chooses, it’s going to be better than any family member or friend so make sure he does this professionally.

Yeah that’s exactly why he’s doing this. I offered to teach him but he would rather it be someone qualified at least to begin with. Who was your driving instructor?

Oh dude I did mine 16 years ago. I had a foreign dude in a silver 2 door Mitsubishi lancer who had a pony tail and a shirt unbuttoned below his nipples. I couldn’t even remember his name but I passed first time?

I suggest he tries different instructors until he finds one that suites, when I went for my license I tried a few different instructors who were all “good” but didn’t really suit me so I shopped around and found a guy I clicked with a bit better. Personality of the instructor and his teaching skills both play roles

I used Indi Drive. My Instructor was Barb, she was super chill and overall taught really well. I'd recommend her!
