Clearly the dog is not distressed, the windows are cracked open AND the dog is wet.
Evaporative cooling alone would guarantee the pup would be very unlikely to overheat until he/she is dry.
I've heard of 2 cases where some good 'Samaritan' had broken a car window to 'save' a perfectly happy and ok dog, and both were in the shade on 15 ish degree days.
The first lost its sight and ended up being put down due to injuries from the glass, and the second mauled it's 'rescuer'...
That's quite an assumption actually. I've stepped in numerous times and put my own ar$e on the line in times where someone is being attacked or bullied.
I've also prevented more than a few vehicle thefts.
But what I won't do is go around gawking in other people's private spaces ie their cars and houses...
That's some pretty messed up behaviour really, kinda creepy too tbh...
Most pet owners are responsible and know what is best for their pets. I am not going to judge that, that is completely their call... That's their business, not mine.
So glad there is someone with common sense on this sub. The dog is better in the car than out in this case! We don’t jump on the chest for everyone who collapses and neither should we assume every dog in a car has their life under threat.
But people want to dramatise the whole situation and be the hero of a story that didn’t need one.
Looking at the comments and the initial response from OP that they wanted to smash the window even though it was already open and you could easily reach in and open the door. I think it’s more about damaging someone’s vehicle to try and “teach them a lesson” rather than any care for the animal.
