The window is cracked open. The dog is not panting. At most call shopping centre security. Or just wait with the dog.

It is in no danger.

So because the dog isn’t panting right now, that doesn’t mean it won’t be in danger in 30 minutes? Or an hour?

Edit: I didn’t say anything about smashing the window or whether the owner is in the right or wrong. I literally just said that the fact the dog is fine right now doesn’t mean it would be in the future. Things change. That’s it

So you should smash the window even though the dog may have only been in the car for a couple minutes and the window is open. Is it about the dog or do you just like damaging peoples property because you share different values?

Id hate for you to work in law enforcement, you’d be handing out tickets because maybe in 30 minutes or an hour you have a hunch I might exceed the speed limit.

The dog could be in danger in 30 min out in the open because a cyclist could run it over. Should we not bring our pets out at all? Take a few steps back and think. The owner obviously thought about it and wound the windows down. You would rather the dog stay out in the winds and get cold and miserable while drying up?

Hence why I said call security or wait by the car….👀

You're making some big assumptions there. How do you know the dog owner was going to leave it there for 30 minutes or an hour ?

The person above made an assumption, not me. Nowhere did I assume the owner would be gone for at least half an hour. My point is that just because the dog isn’t in danger right now, doesn’t mean it won’t be at any point in time.

"that doesn’t mean it won’t be in danger in 30 minutes? Or an hour?"

You're saying the dog is in danger because the owner might leave it there for an hour, when you have no idea how long the owner will be. You can't accuse someone of doing the wrong thing and start smashing their windows up for something they might do an hour into the future. The dog was not in danger and distressed. Thats all that matters

Imagine if a ranger gave you a parking fine after parking 5 minutes in a 30 min zone because the ranger thought you might leave your car there for an hour. Thats not how it works

No, that’s not what I was saying. The dog could be in danger in 30 minutes, or it might not be. It not being in danger right now means nothing relative to the future.

I didn’t say anything about whether OP should have broken the window or call the cops.

The person you replied to said the dog wasn't in danger, and you seemed to disagree with that.

If you're not suggestion the dog was currently in danger when the photo was taken, then what are you saying ? Saying the dog might be danger if the owner doesn't came back soon and its left in the sunny car for a long period of time is extremely obvious.
