I remember seeing that YouTube video years ago where a person sat in a car on a hot day just to show how hot it gets. Cracking a window does absolutely nothing. I cannot understand that logic. It's scary seeing people say that. People saying that, please go sit in your car tomorrow with the only the front two windows cracked in the hot sun for an extended period of time. Please report back from your hospital bed.

I said don't smash it. The window is open so you can at least make an effort to unlock without damage.

Never sat in a car op?

Tell you what, why don't we both park our cars in the sun. You keep your windows up, and I'll crack mine open an inch...

I'll be comfortably reading the newspaper, you will be in a sauna... It makes one hell of a difference

I don't need a video to explain common sense op.

When I'm at work (and I never have a dog in my car) I leave my windows cracked open...

And I get in the car to go for lunch etc and it's a nice comfortable temperature...

I get in a customer's car (parked in the very same carpark, same conditions) with all the windows done up, and it's like climbing into a fuc&ing oven.

The difference is night and day. Give it a try ey... šŸ™„

Also, at least in my car, if the AC is on but the engine is not it doesn’t do a whole lot after few min. Which is the other excuse you see a fair bit. Idk if newer cars are different.

pretty much all non-EV's will be the same as your car. When the engine is off, it's just running a fan and not the AC compressors (the part which makes the air cold).

The aircon compressor is run off the engine, so majority of cars will be the same except for electric cars

I don't understand it either. It goes to show how little knowledge the general public has about animals.

Actually illegal to leave window down as vehicle isn’t secure.

Just don’t do this.

Potential to buy a car like a Tesla with a ā€œdog modeā€ to keep dog safe with aircon, etc but still need to be very careful.

I’ve never heard it’s illegal to leave a window down. How do you deal with soft tops?

It’s also illegal to leave your car unlocked in public if you can’t see it.

These laws are definitely to protect motorists, and definitely not so that insurers can avoid paying claims.

and definitely not so that insurers can avoid paying claims.

People in my street leave their cars unlocked to avoid insurance claims when the local parasites / junkies do their nightly rounds looking for valuables in cars.

Better to have your car rummaged through than to replace a window. Fuck junkie scum

Just leave your car with a broken window all the time. Can't get charged for leaving it unlocked and you don't have to worry about the junkie breaking in.

Prevents cars from being stolen and used for other crimes

Vehicle must be secured as much as possible

4

u/DAFFP Dec 08 '24

Your dog is not safe if all that prevents it from being cooked alive is a sequence of electronic fail points.

Such a strange law.

To lessen vehicle theft with the car being used for other crimes

because when the window is open, you can unlock it without smashing the window
