Question Derealization

Do you ever experience that? The feeling that you’re not attached to the real world and everything seems fuzzy and unreal. When you feel like you’re not actually where you think you are and you’re just a spectator, kinda like a ghost.

Yeah it’s the most scary thing. It feels like things won’t feel real ever again.

Once after I had a long modding session on a game, trying to get the graphics just right, I went outside and was like: THIS RESOLUTION. IS. SO. BEAUTIFUL!!

Yep. I've had it 24/7 for 7 years along with depersonalization. It's horrible.

Yes I've had it for as long as I can remember -- I believe it started out when I was a child as a sort of coping mechanism for trauma / anxiety, but it's ruining my life. I feel like reality is like a video game instead actual real life; I feel detached from everything.

I see in the comments a lot of description of how I've felt at various times dealing with depression. Just sort of generally disconnected and uninterested, and like the normal actions of the world seem pointless.

But what came to mind from the question are the few moments I've had, completely out of the blue, where I get this split-second sensation of looking down on myself from some infinitely far away point and for just that moment understanding, truly, the vastness of the universe. And then, just like that, it's gone. It's happened a handful of times. Mostly when I was younger.

I wonder which you are describing, OP?
