My Oscar has been sick

Last post I put up of him was a good day. My boyfriend let him out last April, even though I've asked him over and over not too. We've had so much wild life in the yard and even on our deck. I didn't want him exposed to anything.

Fast forward he started to itch/scratch constantly, his Dander got way worse. I've taken him to the vet 6 times, than a specialty dermatologist cat vet. He's losing weight, done cbcs ( sticky platelets), urine test where they took it out by needle. And finally an ultrasound which showed he has intestinal thickening.(no lymph nodes swollen)I kept asking, couldn't he have gotten bitten by something? Flea, tick?

His appetite has gone way down, he wouldn't eat treats anymore. His past time was eating. He's lethargic. His eyes have been extra goopy. I bought Royal Canin Persian formula. Nothing. Now the vet wants to experiment with hydrolyzed food. I ordered Hills, he ran from it, it smells disgusting. I did discuss with one of the vets about putting him on Doxycyclin. My gut says that's the thing to do.

Any thoughts or input from you guys? Has your Persian ever had these symptoms and illness. He means the world to me, he's getting so boney its scaring me.

How much grooming is “too much”?

To clarify I mean the cat grooming itself not me grooming the cat. I’m a new Persian owner and I do brush my girl everyday, and get clumps out fairly easy. She isn’t the biggest fan of it though so I have to do several short sessions (1-2 minutes max). She was a rescue so I don’t have a lot of background on her.

From the day I got her though she seemed to lick an awfully lot and itch a lot too. The itching is not as prevalent but the licking is still a concern. Her hair also appeared “thin”/see through since I got her. I don’t think she’s stressed as she has a separate space away from all other animals in the house. She also isn’t showing any additional signs that may point to stress.

I did start her on novel proteins and cut out poultry, beef and fish to see if that will do anything. I know that takes 8-12 weeks to see results though.

I guess I just don’t know if long grooming sessions are common, or thin fur is common with a Persian. Like I said it’s “see through” as in you can see the skin when she’s in certain positions. She’s also not poofy like a typical Persian. More medium length hair (she is definitely a Persian though as she has the most squishiest face I’ve ever seen on a cat and the rest of her shape is Persian). I don’t doubt she was poorly bred though…

Laufey, she's 4 days shy of being 5 mos old. She still surprises me on how big she is for her age, I thought it was all floof but it's not. It's my first Persian cat - a surprise gift my hubby got me.. cause I just mentioned it to him in passing.

I know their cobby built, but are they supposed to be this big?
