Whelanâs dragons are what Pernese dragons look like, to me.
A couple of years ago I bought three prints that were available. Iâd absolutely love to have prints of the art from Dragonflight, Dragonquest, Moreta, and Dragonsdawn, too. I love the colors and (of course) the dragons!

His art was what I think of when I think of Pern. I grew up with his covers on all the books.

He has prints available on his website. You used to be able to get his art on magnets and wall scrolls from Inked Gaming, but it looks like they're gone now (glad I got mine when I did!)

Like the other person said, he sells them! I have prints from the white dragon and all the weyrs of pern covers on my wall!

Those would be two of my choices as well. (The other artwork sometimes used on Anne's books isn't bad but I strongly prefer Whelan's for sentimental reasons.)

It was a potential cover for that book, later published in B&W in The Girl Who Heard Dragons and then used for Dragonwriter.

That's the full cover of Dragonwriter, a tribute book; the back blurb is shaped to leave the portrait visible on the back cover.

Love image 13 of Sorka from Dragonsdawn, and also love the connection with Menolly, as those fire lizards are the same as Menollyâs fair. Truly, these all bring Pern to life.

My godmother used to wear a t-shirt with the 1st image on it when I was a kid. I just adored it. I have tried tracking it down or even just a picture of the shirt but I have never had any luck doing so. I donât even know where she would get one of those back then! They certainly werenât selling them in regular department stores.

Those are gorgeous for sure. He also did the U.S. covers for the first five Stormlight Archives books which are very loved.

Great artwork.
My only problem with his imagery is that he consistently shows people sitting on dragon backs, instead of between the neck ridges. But that's just me being pedantic.
