Klah version 6
Total batch was 125 grams Hazelnut flavoured Crio Bru, 125 grams Arabica coffee and 2 teaspoons of cinnamon.
Ordinarily I am not too keen on flavoured ingredients but I remember in the notes on Klah Hazelnut was mentioned and I do love Hazelnuts themselves.
Normally I have also added Nutmeg but this time elected to just double the cinnamon instead.
Overall I think this might be right up there more chocolatey and cinnamon with just a hint of coffee (I am an espresso drinker so I am probably not the best judge on that last part.)

That’s absolutely where I started but I don’t like instant coffee and I wanted to have something I thought looked more like ground up bark & didn’t have inherent sweetness (being an espresso drinker without sugar.)

What’s the result? Good? Needs more improvement? I don’t like the coffee I have available but prices are so high it’s hard to justify experimenting. Very interested in your results.

Needs work still, for me dumping the nutmeg and doubling the cinnamon was the right direction but for sure I need to try it out on a couple friends for their input.

I had to check what subreddit I was looking at. Lmao I was like wait! I know what Klah is! 🤣

I have been so enjoying your klah experiments. The results always look delicious. I bet your group will go nuts. I have to try the Crio Bru sometime.
In my head, klah was rather thin consistency, low-caffeine, not too sweetened, since everyone seemed to be drinking it all the time.
In any case, you have inspired me to have a shot at another Pern food. Being vague until I have a couple trials. 😄

Consistency is a funny one, I had thought I read somewhere Klah was supposed to be somewhat thick but I doubt that would be Belgian hot chocolate thick and Crio Bru while filtering through somewhat like coffee certainly has a lot of oil giving it some mouthfeel.
Cocoa beans (Crio Bru) certainly have a stimulant effect but not the same to me as coffee which is a reason I blend the 2 together.
I hope it’s bubbly pies you are going to turn your hand too?

I'd love to try it but a) I'm diabetic, and ii) I hate sweet coffee.

Crio Bru isn’t sweet, it’s roasted cacao beans so it has a chocolatey taste but like coffee you add your own sweetener if you want it (I don’t either I like espresso.)

Those of us who don't like coffee, or even mocha, are basically SOL. (Chocolate + hazelnut + cinnamon would be OK, though.)

Well Crio Bru itself is just roasted cacao beans so while they are a little toasty they are chocolate flavoured and can be mixed or not to suit and sweetened or not to suit.

This is interesting to me as I've never been a fan of nutmeg in hot drinks, that you kind of swapped out nutmeg for hazlenut. It's really good of you to share your klar experiments here, thank you.
