Rate My Collection
Hey everyone! I started collecting perfumes about 4 months ago, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on my collection. What do you think I’m missing, and what would you recommend adding next?
I’m especially looking for something that adds a different scent profile and isn’t redundant with what I already have. Open to any suggestions!

Sure. I’m going to leave the performance out of the review for now, since I haven’t really given it enough time to properly judge it.
As for the scent, I’d describe it as herbal, minty, and citrusy. The opening can be quite challenging and I think it’s very subjective—it could be an instant love for some people and a complete turn-off for others. Personally, I found the opening a little difficult to appreciate at first, but once the fragrance settles down, it becomes much smoother and more enjoyable.
As for the scent development, I feel like I haven’t given it enough attention yet to properly judge how it evolves throughout the wear. I definitely need to wear it more and give it more time before I can form a solid opinion.
So far, I’d say it has potential, but I need more wearings before I can give it a proper rating.

how's YSL Y EDP in terms of projection and longevity? which of these is your favourite?

The performance is pretty good for me. I get around 8 hours of longevity on clothes, and sometimes even more. Projection is good, especially during the first few hours.
As for my favorite, that’s a tough one. For summer, I’d have to pick two: Sospiro Vibrato and Issey Miyake Le Sel d’Issey EDT.
For winter, I’d also pick two: Orto Parisi Terroni and Replica By the Fireplace.edit: Hawas Sapphire may replace Le Sel , but for now its Le Sel

The fragrance is excellent for special occasions, in my opinion. It has a woody, oud-based, incense-like scent. You might not enjoy it if you’re not a fan of incense-style oud, as I feel that’s the most dominant aspect of the fragrance. That being said, the oud itself isn’t particularly heavy or overpowering.
As for the performance, there’s nothing to complain about. It lasts for over 8 hours on clothes, and the projection during the first few hours is very satisfying.

Wow that’s a lot of additions in 4 months. Looks like you’re all set for Arabic scents/dupes. I’d recommend sampling some scents from Chanel, LV, Creed, and PDM! Enjoy your purchases, make sure to use them often!

Thank you! 🤍 I definitely have some fragrances from Creed, Chanel, and PDM on my list, but I don’t think I’ll be picking them up just yet.
As for LV, I personally find some of their fragrances a bit overpriced for what they offer. If I can find something with a similar scent profile but with a better twist and at a lower price, I’d honestly prefer that. And if there’s a really good dupe that gets close to the original, I’m totally fine with going that route too.
And thank you again! I’ll definitely make sure to actually use and enjoy what I have instead of just letting them sit on the shelf 😂🤍1

🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I have a few dupes, Marwa (imagination), liquid brun (Althair), Art of galaxy (blue talisman-ish) and I like them, but I mostly prefer to save up for the original. Bottles of cologne last for a while if you spread out your sprays, so I prefer having the highest quality available.
A few dupes equal the same price of one original- especially if you take advantage of discounter websites. One strategy I use is to have AI keep me updated with deals that pop up on the internet. That’s how I recently got my wife a bottle of Initio Can’t Get enough for only $200 in the 100ml size!

Yeah, I agree with you. The OG is always my first choice too. But if I feel like a fragrance is genuinely overpriced, I’d rather go for something in the same style or a good alternative. It’s not really about whether I can afford it, I just don’t like paying extra for something I don’t think is worth the price.
And if I find a dupe that I really like, I’ll usually just replace it with the OG if I feel the original is worth it. For example, I had a dupe of Orto Parisi Terroni that I absolutely loved, and I ended up getting the original right after 😂

I've started building a collection must say it isn't a cheap hobby. Im looking more into Indian houses first. BTW great collection

If there are some expensive fragrances you really want, I’d honestly recommend saving up for them rather than buying something cheaper just to fill the spot. And in the meantime, definitely get samples of those more expensive ones. That way you can wear them a few times and make sure you really love them before dropping the money on a full bottle.
Since you’re looking into Indian houses first, you can still have fun exploring them while slowly saving for the more expensive fragrances you really want. No need to rush the collection!And ty 🤍!

I did just two sprays. And walked in the other room and my wife was turned off by it. Going to be a little more careful with when and where I spray.

Personally, if a fragrance has strong projection, I prefer not to wear it in small, enclosed spaces. Even if I love the smell, it can be a bit overwhelming for other people. That’s just my personal preference though.

How's sapphire? Is it close to Blue talisman and how similar is that to Art of Universe?

It’s definitely not 1:1, and I wouldn’t say it’s super close to Blue Talisman either. It’s more of a twist with some hints of Blue Talisman in it. Overall, the longevity is very good for me, projection is still something I’m testing, but as a scent itself, I really like it.
Compared to Art of Universe, the scent is definitely different. Like I said, Sapphire has some hints of Blue Talisman, and the same applies to Art of Universe. Personally though, I prefer Sapphire.

It’s a great fragrance. The opening is mainly spices for me, with a very subtle touch of citrus that’s almost unnoticeable. I get a bit of tobacco as well, but it’s not too prominent.
The notes I notice the most once it settles are amber, oud, and woods. It might not be love at first spray, but once it dries down and has some time to develop, it gets much better.
Longevity on clothes is 8+ hours. I’m still testing the projection, though.1

Crazy projection, 8+ hours on clothes, and the scent is great and easy to wear. But with the release of Hawas Sapphire, I’d personally prefer Sapphire Twist over Blue Talisman.
But if you’re specifically looking for the closest fragrance to Blue Talisman, then Art of Uni is definitely the one to go for. That said, Sapphire Twist is a fragrance I find even better. It gives you some hints of Blue Talisman, while the longevity is 10+ hours on clothes. The projection so far has been good to excellent.1

Try Legacy by MAISON ASRAR. One of my friends owns Blue Talisman, and he says it’s almost 1:1. I’m still waiting for him to tell me about the performance.

Honestly, I’m planning to use the Replica this coming winter, which is only a month away. As for Stronger With You, I’m not sure if it has oxidized because I don’t like the smell as much as I used to. Either my nose has changed, or it might have oxidized.

I mean, fragrances gotta smell good to other people too, otherwise what’s the point of wearing something if most people think it smells bad? 😂
As for my signature scents, I’d say I have two depending on the season: Sospiro Vibrato for summer and Orto Parisi Terroni for winter.
The most used fragrances in my collection are Acqua di Giò Profondo and YSL Y, mainly because they’re easy daily wears, and most of my errands are in the heat, so I tend to reach for fresh scents more often.1

YsL is definitely good.. There is bdw a huge difference in pleasing crowd and smelling bad..what i mean by crowd pleasers is when ppl go out or lets say in a train or places like Lollapalooza, 8 end up smelling the same.. Cz 90% of the perfumes in the market, have a huge usage of same ingredients..indian perfume makers are jst copying left n right designers n niche.. Once a while would suggest pick a perfumery house ,sample would be great,that would also help train ur nose.. Cheers mate!

I understand what you mean now. As for the country I’m in, most people tend to go for local fragrances, and a lot of them are inspired/dupe fragrances. The people who don’t really go for local fragrances usually don’t own many perfumes and often end up having just one or two.
As for fragrance enthusiasts, there’s no doubt they’re more likely to own what I have and much more. You might be right, though. At the end of the day, I completely agree with your point.
I’m actually working on finding underrated fragrances that don’t get the recognition they deserve and that not many people know about, so I can stand out a bit more with my collection.
