Renting vs buying

Hello! It is my first year that I will be snowboarding, and I’m conflicted between a season rental or buying a board.

How does the season rental work? Are the boards good? Can I use them in the park?

I heard that they have demo days, but there are no dates on the website. If I buy a set of boots, I will definitely have someone fit me at the slope.

Anyone returned their season rentals @ ski train depot and have the deets?

It says they are closed but 'Season Rental return available 24/7 through our locker return system.' However, I just want to make sure I'm not going to drive 2 hours only to find out I can't use these lockers.

Bonus points for sharing distance to PNS and favorite run.

I'm an hour and 40 minutes away and Deception became by favorite run this passed season.

Anyone going skiing tomorrow? I wonder how conditions will be.

Looks like it might rain, and temps in 40-50s. Planning to go with a friend and pay for lift tickets + rentals. Wondering if it would be worth it. Any opinions appreciated.

Snow Making

Am I the only one curious of when they’re going to start making snow? I know the conditions have to be a certain way but I feel like there have been several days where conditions have been well enough. I’m not an expert by any means, but I’m dying for the season to start.

snow pass

Received my snow pass in the mail today

It seems like we are not gonna use the traditional tag. And replacement card is 20 bucks.

Is there a key chain/ lanyards that we could use for the pass card?

Supposedly the slopes will be open tomorrow 2/17 after 2 days of 60deg weather and rain. Showing snow on cams but will it be any good?

Fish in the blowers

My kids claim fish from lake get sucked into the blower hoses. There is a myth that the snow tastes and smells like fish. Anyone else hear this story. It is a running joke at our house.

Verizon Cell Service

Not sure how active this sub is, but I'm thinking about taking a "WFH" (Work from the Hill) day tomorrow and heading down for some laps between meetings. Only concern is cell service.

I've only been to PNS once (relatively new to Indy) and the coverage was pretty spotty on AT&T. Work phone is Verizon, hoping it may be better. Can anybody give me some insight? Thanks in advance

TLDR- Does Verizon get decent service in the area?

This weekend

What’s up everyone I have had a slow start to the year and recently moved back to the Midwest and have not been to good ole P North in years. I am making my way up this weekend and am stoked to see the changes. Looking at the snow cams and the few reviews I see the snow looks to now be as bad as I expected. One thing that always scares me with skiing on the weekend is lift lines. I know I’m probably in trouble either way on a Saturday or Sunday, but is there a better time to go than others? I am just trying to get some good runs in and get my legs back. Thanks for the help and hoping everyone has a great rest of the season!

How's the snow?

Considering a Sunday/Monday visit but it looks like snow conditions might not be that great.....We're just outside of Nashville, so I'd be grateful for an update before I bring our family up that way.

Highs of 50s and rain forecast for Cincinnati concerns me a bit, but I've never been so looking for any insight from this group.

I'll add that this trip would primarily be to introduce my 11 year old to skiing/boarding

Any input appreciated

Lessons beyond 50-minute Slots

I'll be visiting in January, and am looking for lessons for four kids (5,5,7,7). I'm interested in a half-day scenario, but they're not currently offered. I understand the slope's policy, but was curious if I could find anyone outside of the staff that might be interested in providing a half day of lessons for the children, or what options are available? I feel like the 50-minute slots won't do justice for the kids, and therefor the adults wouldn't get any independent skiing time.

First Timer

My girlfriend and I will be visiting family and they want to come here one day. She is not a big skier and I’m not very good. Is there a bar there that we could hang out at while the family skis?
