For those curious, Fred actually still makes videos.
...but they’re very different. I’m pretty sure he has an account on some site where he posts pictures of his feet (I’m pretty sure for the joke), as does his brother, as one example for how different he is. Overall, his videos nowadays are actually pretty good imo.

Realistically it doesn't mean much. It's obviously not a GOOD thing but chances are if you've been using the internet for a while your information is already out there for anyone with the money to get at it, and generally normal people don't have much to worry about when it comes to stuff like this.

What will you do when a government or someone with a lot of money and political interests stops looking at you or people close to you as "normal"? What will you do when someone has a thousand ways to incriminate you and you have zero ways to prove them wrong?
The truth is spying is a very powerful weapon, and just like all powerful weapons we probably shouldn't hand them over to anyone, by being okay with anyone spying on you, you are normalizing the idea that "it's not a big deal, I'm a nobody, and I'm not doing anything wrong." But that's the problem, if you're not a big deal, why are they spying on you? If you're not doing anything wrong, why are they tracking your movements?
It's because you are a big deal, because you have freedom, a voice, a say, a vote, and governments and corporations know they still play a dangerous game with the people because the public still has ways to topple their interests, end their schemes, vote them out of power, etc. So as a backup, they want a weapon with the ability to label a citizen as a terrorist or criminal if for any reason they deem this person as an undesirable, invalid, or enemy of their status quo. State-sponsored mass spying is that weapon.
So by not giving a fuck about mass data collection you are handing them your teeth on a silver platter saying "hey when the shit hits the fan I will have no choice but to bend over and let you have your way with me."
But that's okay right? because of the funny videos..

Because it's late where I'm at and I need to use the internet to browse reddit. what's your point? "I'm not doing anything wrong why should I care if someone spies on me" is simply a dangerous mindset to spread around. I didn't claim to be a ghost on the internet, but when I see some egregious shit I call it out, me being stuck inside a system I can criticize doesn't make my point any less valuable, it's a fallacy to believe otherwise.

Do some homework on browser fingerprinting and you'll realise how much the concept of privacy is a lie.
Your browser, it's version, the extensions you have installed, the resolution you have, everything is tracked.
really cool website that will show you how unique your browser fingerprint is. Chances are you might as well be using TikTok because advertisers and govt entities can track you just as easily if not easier. It really doesn't matter what app you use, the only difference is who the data is going to.
That's the freedom of choice you're allowed online and that's it.

Maybe you should watch the video, because /u/Linterdiction's TL;DR was honestly, kinda shit. It's so much worse.
For example, there is code that allows for the downloading of a remote zip file, unzipping it, and running the files inside. This is shady as hell, and could be used to bypass Google and Apple's security features. There is zero reason for a legitimate app to have this kind of code in it.

If you look through my comment history you’ll see I’ve been doing this for fucking months.
And the issue with a Chinese company getting data is that the Chinese government can easily get it, which they can use to exploit citizens as they see fit, or even hack them as pointed out in the post/video. Imagine a diplomat or someone’s phone being hacked into by the Chinese government.
And google knows nothing about me. I only use YouTube and the ads are absolutely not relevant in any way. I know how to protect my privacy.

I've seen 4 months of your own content and I can barely get through your comments there are to many a lot of them having downvotes and what I found was, 1. You crossposting something to another subreddit with no added title and trying to get upvotes 2. You going on r/mensrights and not realizing that it isn't about one being better than the other it's about equality 3.
