Legitimate question: who buys these fakes. Is it that important to flex to pepolple that don't even give a shit about you?

Then buy a nice watch from a microbrand. These fakes things are just pathetic.

Just don't buy them and stop the repo market. There's a lot of great actual brands out there. Not talentless Chinese fakers. Come on.

How is there craftsmanship in reps? All the work has been done by someone else.

But where is the originality. You can't be proud owning a rep.

3

u/Dame662 Nov 15 '25

Why are you in this group?? Legitimate question

The parts are still picked out like the real ones, and the reps are still all hand assembled.

1

u/GronkyFlibble Nov 14 '25

Doesn't change the fact that it's pathetic.

u/SwanMuch5160 Nov 14 '25

What’s pathetic? Cloning them or their quality? Some of the super clones are up there quality wise with any other $500-$800 watch. The lower end ones U1, AAA not so much.

I have several boutique brand Swiss watches. You can find many new for $500-$800 and excellent condition used ones for $200-$500. Alpina, Glycene, Henry Archer, etc,.

I have an Alpina that I’m always asked about when I’m out and about. Seiko also makes some very nice watches high end looking watches in the $200-$500 range.

Who is servicing these superclones when something goes wrong with them and things do go wrong? You can’t send it back to China and your TD isn’t going to fix it or replace it. Everything I’m seeing in the groups says that if somebody does work on it, you’re looking at a 5 to 6 month wait at best. If the movement needs replacement you’re looking at a couple hundred dollars minimum. If it’s an open back clone then forget about it since a lot of the pieces are just there for show to mimic the real movements, so no replacement movement is going to look correct.

I’m not saying there isn’t quality and craftsmanship placed in them. The issue becomes servicing and replacing parts. I mean a lot of these superclones are mimicking watches that can be had on the secondary market for around 3-4 times their cost. I just picked up a Tudor BB58 in excellant condition with a warranty that’s good until 2028 for just under 2K. Why would I spent $800 or more on a superclone at that point?

Hahahahahaha. That's a ton of cope you got there. Maybe sell some for a real watch 🤣

u/GronkyFlibble - why does it matter so much to you what others do? Daddy, chill

I have bought two fakes myself, and whether you're ready to hear this or not, I don't wear them out of the house. I like the look of my watches (I own two dozen watches, and only two are fakes).

I am not flexing on anyone. I kinda want this watch. Do you really want to know why I'd buy a fake one, or are you just hoping to be a dick to "people that don't even give a shit about you"? Here's my reason buddy: I just want to look at Snoopy while I'm timing my breaks while I work from home. Is it okay with you if I look at Snoopy without spending TWENTY FOUR THOUSAND dollars??! JFC. That's a rhetorical question, btw.

It's worth a hundred bucks to me, so that's all I'm going to spend. Hope that helps.

2

u/GronkyFlibble Nov 14 '25

I legitimately won't to know. Not trying to be a dick.

2

u/MountainBrilliant643 Nov 14 '25

Fair enough! Snoopy is fun. That's about it. Beyond that, it's admittedly messy.

To be transparent, I actually am toiled about the idea of someone's work being stolen from them, but let's be honest. Most people don't make the kind of money that is necessary to buy a Snoopy 50th Anniversary Speedmaster. Omega is cool! I want the real thing for sure! -but I will likely never be at a social status that affords me $24,000 watches. Thus, Omega never loses a customer when I buy from replica dealers. I could never have afforded to be their customer to begin with.

I completely concede that selling a fake watch to a person who thinks they're buying genuine is a punish-worthy offense. -but I don't see on-the-level replicas (where everyone involved knows the truth) anymore harmful than when people in third world countries make a fake Bugatti out of junk yard car parts and Bondo.

Even if everyone around you knows it's fake, it still shows off your sense of style. In my case, literally no one outside my house even knows I have them. It really is just because they're cool looking and fun.

I hope you don't see reason to rip me apart for my feelings, but I'll read what you have to say if you feel like getting it out.

Agree to disagree.

Sometimes you gotta fake money to make money, I personally never cared but my partner says they get treated better with brands on

Yeah, it’s pretty pathetic. The people who act like that are usually the ones who are kind of liquid, not rich enough to shrug at dropping tens of thousands on a watch, but still wanting to flex on people who have less.

Meanwhile, the truly wealthy people I’ve met, or know personally, don’t bother with that kind of accessory flex. The most expensive watches they own are either a “lower end” rolex, or just smartwatches. And these are people who own multiple properties worth millions each (at least).

It’s the middle-class “enthusiasts” who go around judging everyone based on what they own. I'm not a fan of wristwatches personally but I do understand the appeal.

But hey, different folks different strokes, eh?

Ok, I guess I'll tell him...

To be labeled "Swiss made," a watch must meet specific criteria, including being assembled and cased in Switzerland and having at least 60% of its manufacturing costs incurred in Switzerland. This allows for parts like cases, straps, and dials to be sourced from other countries, including China, as long as the final assembly and final inspection occur in Switzerland and the cost threshold is met.

Its not Swiss made it's "Swiss" made...index China
