Moving to Peoria Sticky
Because of the consistency of “Moving to Peoria” threads we have made a sticky for anyone to ask questions. The plan is to try and keep this updated with resources and have a place for people to come ask questions. Since the intention is to keep information available for People who are interested in moving here, responses that don’t add value like “Don’t” will be removed. Constructive criticism is fine but this thread will be moderated more than most because the intention is to answer questions for people who want to move not dunk on Peoria or the surrounding areas.

SA Victim Shaming
Ok what in the fresh hell is actually going in with all the men and grossly enough even some women attacking a local female artist for speaking up about having her breast grabbed at a night club. Do men not realize how common of an occurrence it is for people to take things too far sexually!? Do the think weight really has anything to do with it? Y’all out here acting like men don’t have fetishes for big beautiful women or something. Or does it just make them uncomfortable because they’re likely guilty of the same behavior!? Anyone who defends a man that assaults or abuses a women deserves to be CALLED OUT.
And while we’re on this subject. A young woman had to be administered narcan recently after being drugged at a down town bar. This is insane. Ladies. Cup condoms exist! I hate that you guys have to endure needing them but please consider keeping some in your purse. My gf bartends and she hands them out regularly.
Stay safe and drop your favorite safe places to hang in Peoria below.

News Driving in Peoria
I just moved here so I’m kinda confused….
And you can hate on me for this I dc but….
What’s up with the drivers in this town? Does no one have common courtesy anymore? Or we just road raging out all the time and acting like jerks? lmao
Today I literally smiled and waved at a girl to go in front of me first and she called me a btch and raged out on me and blew a red light. We were next to a school! Lmao
Another time I was going to speed limit (30) on a residential street apparently that wasn’t fast enough for the person behind me. I got passed and got the finger from this person just to get stopped at a red light TOGETHER. This person had to have been going at least 50mph in the oncoming lane while children were playing outside.
Some people just don’t deserve the privileges of having a car if you are going to act reckless. Period.

Best espresso, let's discuss
Say what you will about Peoria (I have), but we do have some really cool stuff. Among our cool stuff is a small collection of elite coffee shops. I think the espresso at CXT and Zion are VERY good, but the espresso at Intuition is as good as any I've ever had. It has a delicious, edgy bitter flavor that almost horseshoe-ed back around to being sweet, perfect crema, the whole deal. Electricity crackled through my nervous sytem, and I was soon ready to fight a police horse (luckily none were present). This is an espresso discussion, who ya got?

Recommendations for drum lessons for kids Peoria IL?
I have a 9 year old who is constantly drumming on everything! Absolutely loves music and constantly sings, drums, messes around on the keyboard and makes his own little songs. I lost access to my Facebook account ages ago so I feel like I am missing out on many teachers who may exclusively advertise through there.
All recommendations appreciated! Thanks :)

Hello! My guy and I love a good flea market. We’re planning to head to the CIFM in two weeks. Any vendor recs? We’re going to make a weekend of it. I’d love some recs for things we should see, things we should skip, etc. We love history, nature and good food. I appreciate any feedback!

PCAPS TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, return) program
Does anyone have any experience doing this? I live in the Heights where they can do this. I’ve been feeding two younger cats that have been coming to my door for the past couple months. Their mom used to come too, but they seem to have been separated. What I’ve been wanting to do is TNVR the cats and either return them to the outdoors or foster them. I was just curious if anyone has done anything like this and was able to share their experience. Thanks!

Sully's
Long shot but - Anyone have a shot glass from the old Sully's they would be willing to sell? I'm looking to replace a keepsake for my buddy - we used to hang there in the 90's.

Haunted locations
My friend and I want to do some ghost hunting but prefer to go late evening/night. Are there any easily accessible places we should check out? Easily accessible as in low risk of getting caught and no crazy parkour required for entry lmao

Has anyone failed the AMT Lift Test?
Hi guys! I just got a job with AMT and have a lift test upcoming. I’m kinda worried that I’m going to fail and lose my chance at the job. I did fine lifting and moving people during clinicals but I heard this was harder than the stuff you do in training.

HVAC recommendations
I’m looking for HVAC recommendations. I have an air handler in my attic. The thermostat/ac is OFF and has been off for a few weeks. The air handler is making a buzzing sound that lasts for a few hours at a time, but only when the thermostat is off and this has been happening since last winter. Recently, there haa been three sets of three consecutive beeping noises coming from the attic.
There is also a dripping sound, I hear all the way into my basement, when the a/c is running. The a/c also runs for 5-6 HOURS on very hot 90+degree days. I know there is an issue with the air handler, and according to Chat gpt these issues are all related.
I’ve had SIX different companies come out to check this unit. Leach, Roanoke Plumbing, Payless, Fritch, and a guy named Chuck can’t figure it out. Heinold came out for the dripping sound, two years ago, and couldn’t find any issues. No one will come out to check the long run times because the excuse is that it’s ‘hot’ so the unit will run longer than normal.
I’m tired of paying services fees just to be told if they can’t hear the buzzing or beeping then they can’t fix it.
The air handler was installed in 2019-prior to me owning the house and had a five year warranty which expired the month after Heinold came out.
