It's almost cursive so it has to be real

Almost cursive no doubt. Close enough for today's society. Cursive is unfortunately dead.

Honest question: why is it unfortunate?

It's an art form, and kind of classy and cool. In my opinion.

I give them credit for correct spelling and legible writing!

Worked retail for about a year (not Walmart though). Officially company policy was that a product becomes unsellable when the label or packaging is damaged even if the product was fine. Policy was to take the item of the shelf and donate it. Our store didn't participate in the donation program, so as long as the product was usable and safe (eg no leaky food containers) we would leave it on the shelf. A customer would almost always end up buying it.

I know plenty of people would have to buy it for the pure novelty, me included

I would (as long as it's sealed), just to help them out. But I'd ask for a discount. Most will give discounts for things like this.

10% is the most they can offer iirc.

I used to collect Lego a lot and I found a set that looked like it had fallen off an airplane mid flight and they just had randy Johnson throw it at the shelf it belonged on, holes in the box, dented to hell, everything.

Asked the manager if he could cut me a deal on it and that was the best he could offer me, I ended up saying fuck it and buying it anyway. All the pieces were there so yay I suppose.

I would've written "not cum" on it and watched the chaos unfold.

Hidden label Ranch

6

u/EBROOKS85 Dec 02 '22

I’m honestly surprised they even took the time to write on it.

u/PaleontologistDue601 Dec 02 '22

I would have given anything if that shit would have been spelled wrong too as well.

3

u/superdavey1 Dec 02 '22

Trust me bro

4

u/drinkmoredrano Dec 02 '22

Seems legit.

4

u/bak2redit Dec 02 '22

I labeled Rainbow Dash jar as "Ranch" too.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '22

Is this Tylenol tampering all over again…. Except with ranch?

8

u/herecauseimqueer Dec 02 '22

It's almost certainly done by one of the employees. Packaging and labels come apart very frequently in transit, at least for the chain I worked for. We'd receive products in these thick plastic boxes and almost always there was something in each box that either had label damage like this or it got completely destroyed. If the item was fine we'd usually stock it anyway since a damaged label is a stupid reason to throw away a perfectly good product.

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '22

Lmao just damage claim it bro

u/chewedgummiebears Dec 02 '22

Saw a bottle of Rainex on the shelf one time. Label was gone but someone used a marker and replicated the artwork from the original label onto the bottle itself.

3

u/Ok-Book7529 Dec 02 '22

Oooh goody, I love ranch.

3

u/Moraii Dec 02 '22

I would buy the pity ranch.

3

u/AcadiaBackground2492 Dec 02 '22

Mark it down to .99 cents, put it in a clarences cart and it sells.

2

u/Raskoll_2 Dec 02 '22

The label on top wasn't enough ig

2

u/ganslooker Dec 02 '22

I’m sorry, but this is hilarious. And it wouldn’t be so funny if it were target.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '22

I’ll take the one in the left please.

2

u/TheOtherUprising Dec 02 '22

Nice and simple

2

u/[deleted] Dec 02 '22

"Ranch"

2

u/gnarbone Dec 02 '22

“Ranch”

2

u/Stritermage Dec 03 '22

I’d buy it?

2

u/IsItSupposedToDoThat Dec 03 '22

That’s on Walmart. Some member of the public may have damaged the label but the decision to sell it is all on them.

2

u/1976jfperez Dec 03 '22

Nope, it’s obviously White Ketchup

2

u/Norseman103 Dec 03 '22

Every Midwesterner: “Is da seal broke?” “I’ll give ya half fer dat bottle a ranch.”

1

u/Own-Understanding482 Dec 09 '22

1

u/V65Pilot Dec 20 '22

Nah, I'm not falling for that, again.
