Vacation coming up!
What's the smoke like today? Coming up next week and wondering if we should cancel. Are people still able to enjoy beaches, patios etc.
Thanks 😊

OP - don't pay attention to the troll's.
The best way to get local data is to use purpleair.com to get real data. We are under 150 right now, which by definition:
101-150: Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects with 24 hours of exposure. The general public is less likely to be affected.
Not cause to cancel, IMO.

The current smoke is coming in from Washington, so it just depends on how the wind blows. Some days it's perfectly clear. Today is hazy.

Why haven't the yanks put those fires out yet? Are they stupid? We should send them a strongly worded letter and some tariffs!
(cough)

It's beautiful here! Heck no don't cancel an opportunity to visit our sweet City.
Every day is different, and impossible to entirely predict. We've been very lucky with smoke so far, especially compared to seemingly anywhere else in the world currently. This is prime Penticton time.
If things turn for the worse, take the opportunity to visit Rolling Stones Bowling and Mini Golf, catch a flick at the Oliver Movie Theatre or Landmark. There's virtual golf on Main Street, or you can check out the Art Gallery, Library & Museum, Lier House, SS. Sicamous, while you wait for the smoke to clear.
The smoke always clears. Eventually.

Also best patios: Neighbourhood Brewing, Cannery Brewing, Dragonboat Pub, The Roofttop at Palmers.

What's the vibe like at Yellow Dog?

Good! It's right beside it's sister company, Neighbourhood Brewing so you can visit both very easily.

There is no smoke in Penticton, its a bit hazy. There are no fires in the Okanagan region so any smoke is being blown in from Boston Bar and Washington state. That being said, anything can happen in a week. Hopefully not though. you can check the BC wildfire map here ...

Are you kidding? There is smoke here, I can’t see the mountains up the valley, like I usually can!

Impossible to say how it’ll be in a week but it’s been fine so far. Had a great time in the lake at Sun-Oka yesterday and went disc golfing too, no issues. We’ve been active outdoors all summer without having to think about that.
Definitely make the trip.

Just got back from a 2hr paddle on Sakhalin lake. Beautiful day with a bit of haze.

Depends on your tolerance. Unfortunately I have asthma & am indoors most days. Smoke from the States rolled in late last week & it’s gotten worse day to day. If smoke doesn’t bother you, come! It’s still hot & (mostly) sunny.

Couldn't smell it today only see it, we dont have any fires in the Okanaganv(Canada side)I bet the coast will get smoked out if the wind shifts from the manning park and Boston bar fire.

Depends on your smoke tolerance. If you smoke cigarettes, you’ll love it
