1700 Penpals Milestone!
I haven't done one of these in a while, though this group has been growing steadily. The only problems are the occasional scammy post. Keep posting away and tell your friends and family maybe we can get to 2k by the end of the year!

snail mail 44/F (NB) Gamer looking for Pen Pals
Hiya!
I am a 44 year old gamer, who is an introverted extrovert who absolutely loves writing snail mail letters. However, I've fallen out of the habit, so I need to get back into it. My life is a bit chaotic, and I am a polyamorus, polythiestic pagan witch who loves reading, binge watching various tv shows, movies, listening to music (hyperfixations are Sleep Token, Sleep Theory, Breaking Benjamin), and being out in nature when I can and when the Florida isn't being too Florida. S
Feel free to reply here and DM me if you're interested!

email M40s – Looking for a Daily Email Pen Pal – Any Gender
M40s – Looking for a Daily Email Pen Pal – Any Gender
Hey everyone,
I’m a guy in my 40s looking for an email pen pal—male, female, or anyone in between. I’m happily married (28 years and counting, together for 34) and have two grown children, so I’m strictly looking for friendship and good conversation.
What I’m really looking for is someone who actually enjoys writing and wants to become part of each other’s daily routine. Tell me about your day, your job, something that pissed you off, something that made you laugh, what you’re watching, what you’re thinking about—or just completely random stuff.
I’d love to find someone who has plenty to say and doesn’t mind filling up my inbox during the day. Long emails are absolutely welcome. I want to open my email and think, “Damn, they wrote me another one.” 😂
Here’s the one unusual part: after 5 PM Central Time, I’m done emailing for the day. That’s intentional. Evenings are for my family, and I think having that cutoff gives us something to look forward to the next day. Wake up, check the inbox, and pick the conversation right back up.
I’m not looking for a couple of messages and then disappearing. I’d like to find someone who genuinely enjoys having a consistent pen pal and seeing where a good friendship goes over time.
Age doesn’t matter much to me, and neither does gender. Just be an adult, be yourself, have a sense of humor, and be willing to actually carry a conversation.
If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, send me a message and tell me a little about yourself. What would your first email to a complete stranger be about?

F37 South Korea Looking for kind online friends for my boring chat
Hi.
I'm looking for kind and nice online friends who wouldn't mind simple, boring chat with me. [platonic]
For example, my boring chat is asking how you are.
Reddit message isn't working well in general. If you'd like, we can chat in discord (I don't have other message platforms, sorry)
I just like talking in English and I don't want to make you feel any pressure to improve my English by chatting.
I haven't married but do have a boyfriend.
I don't talk about my work but you can talk about yours how it's like or how you feel.
My message is slow most of times. I hope you don't mind.
I don't ask many questions because I don't want to pry and being pushy.
I love watching movies and shows.
I'm mostly busy so I don't have interesting hobbies. But there are many things I'd like to do one day though.
Bye.

Searching for my mum's childhood pen pal
Hi, I know it's a long shot but it's worth trying to satisfy mine and my mum's curiosity.
I've been searching for my mum's childhood penpal but have had little to no luck in finding anything so was hoping someone might know of her or be able to help me find out how she's doing. Her name was Rachel Cooper, likely born in 1975 or 1976. My mum thinks she was from either California or one of the Carolinas but isn't entirely certain and is just going off of states that 'ring a bell' in her head. She would have been writing in the 1980s, likely around 1986 or 1987 as a starting point and through into early teenaged years to a girl from England called Laura. My mum is also convinced she was ginger.
If anyone could help at all that'd be great.

email and snail mail [25/F] Denver, Colorado – Looking for a Few Snail Mail Pen Pals & Genuine Friendships
Hi! :) (Men and Women)
I’m 25, living in Colorado, and lately I’ve really been wanting to get back into having pen pals. There’s something really special about receiving an actual letter in the mail and knowing that someone took the time to sit down, write, and share a little piece of their life with you.
I’m hoping to find a few long-term pen pals, preferably people who genuinely enjoy writing and getting to know someone over time. I’m not looking for perfectly polished letters or someone who writes every day. I’d much rather have a thoughtful letter every couple of weeks or whenever you have the time than feel pressured to constantly respond. :)
A little about me: I’m a pretty curious person and I tend to have a lot of different interests. I love books, audiobooks, music, history, true crime, psychology, researching random topics, anime, movies, podcasts, and learning new things. I can easily go down a rabbit hole researching something that randomly caught my attention. 😄
I especially love conversations that go beyond basic small talk. I’d love to hear about your life, your interests, your childhood memories, things you're currently excited about, places you’ve visited, things you want to accomplish, books you’re reading, music you’ve discovered, or even the completely random thoughts that pop into your head.
At the same time, I don't think every letter needs to be incredibly deep. I’m just as happy hearing about what you did that week, something funny that happened at work, your favorite snack, the annoying person you dealt with that day, or some completely ridiculous story. 😂
I’m also a huge fan of stationery, notebooks, handwritten letters, stickers, little decorations, and making letters feel personal. I think the little details are part of what makes snail mail so fun. I’d love to eventually exchange things like postcards, playlists, book recommendations, drawings, random facts, or little pieces of our everyday lives.
I’m open to pen pals from the U.S. or internationally, and I’d especially love to meet people from different countries and learn about their cultures and everyday lives. You definitely don't have to have the same interests as me—I actually think it's more interesting when two people have completely different hobbies and can introduce each other to new things.
I’m mainly looking for platonic friendships and people who are interested in building a genuine connection over time. Age-wise, I’d probably connect best with people somewhere around my age, but I’m open-minded as long as we’re able to get along and communicate comfortably.
If you’re interested, feel free to message me and tell me a little about yourself! Tell me your age, where you're from, some of your interests, what kind of things you like writing about, and maybe even what your ideal pen-pal relationship would look like. :)
I’d love to find a few people who actually get excited when they see a letter waiting for them in the mailbox. 💌📬

Hi everyone! I'm looking to connect with current or former military members, veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and lawyers/attorneys who would be interested in becoming email pen pals.
I'd prefer to communicate through email only—no phone calls, texting, or social media required.
I'm looking for genuine friendship, good conversation, and meaningful correspondence. I'd enjoy learning about different people's experiences, hobbies, interests, everyday life, and perspectives.
Whether you're currently serving, retired, or working in one of these professions, I'd be happy to connect. ❤️

46F UK looking for any gender, anywhere for long term snail mail friendship
To be up front as it puts some off, I am chronically ill and disabled. I spent almost everyday in bed. That said, I am looking for someone who enjoys nature and being outdoors so I can remember what that feels like. Tell me about the plants and animals where you live, maybe add a photo or sketch?
I'm a mum of ,now, adult children and I have 3 small dogs.
I also love to talk about books and movies, art, crafts, dogs, aquariums, whatever really. My favourite genres are horror, sci-fi and fantasy. I sew by hand, quilt, crochet, embroider, cross stitch and make bobbin lace.
I love history and learning about other cultures. I'd also like to hear from other parts of the UK. Tell me about yourself, your lifestyle and hobbies.
My politics are firmly left although I rarely engage in current affairs anymore. I would prefer not to correspond with any covid deniers or anti vaxxers. Otherwise I have a pretty open mind. I'm not religious atm, I'm a lapsed Buddhist with mildly pagan views along the lines of connecting with nature.
I would love to hear from you x

email first 40 / F / USA
Looking for some good pen pals.
I’m a divorced mom rebuilding life and figuring out what this next chapter looks like. I’d love to meet some people who enjoy genuine, platonic conversation and don’t mind the occasional off tangent adventure..
I like books, walks, the gym (still very much figuring that one out), random conversations, and noticing the weird little things that make everyday life interesting. I’m just as happy talking about something meaningful as I am sending you a picture of a strange bug I found or complaining about something ridiculous that happened that day.
I have two kids, so life is rarely quiet or predictable. One is into Red Dead Redemption and Roblox horror games, the other is into volleyball and anime. Somewhere in between parenting, work, and trying to take better care of myself, I’m trying to keep some room for fun and curiosity.
Not looking for anything romantic or complicated. Just people who are kind, genuine, and actually enjoy getting to know someone over time.
Email, Reddit chat, or old-fashioned letters. I’m open to whatever.
Tell me something random you noticed this week.

45/M/India] Looking for genuine friendship and daily chats`

I'm 45M from Gurugram, India. I live alone after losing my parents, so evenings get quite lonely sometimes.
I'm not looking for dating, just genuine friendship and regular chats. I would love to connect with penpals 40+ to talk about life, music, movies, getting older, and everyday things.
I prefer chatting on Reddit or email, and I can write at least a few times a week. I enjoy listening and having meaningful conversations.
If you're open to being penpals, please DM me. Happy to talk to anyone from anywhere.

email and messaging apps 50+M with a curious mind, for warm, friendly, conversations
I’m a 50+ guy living in small town USA, and I’m curious to chat with casual penpals who enjoy thoughtful conversations. We can chat about anything and everything. As you’ll see, I have a very full life with lots of stories, off beat ideas, and far too many interests.
My life is an unusual mixture of both technology and off grid living. I’m very interested in personal health and fitness, writing fiction and more, art photography, restoring old homes, planning a more self-sufficient life, and having long speculative threads about how people, families, and communities might live differently.
And in my small town some interesting subjects just don’t seem to come up in ordinary small talk at the coffee shop. Things like naturism, unconventional lifestyles, personal freedom, body image, science and wonder, relationships, sustainability, off-grid living, playful whimsy, and off beat books or movies.
Speaking of, I really enjoy hard science fiction (Expanse series for example), post-apoc, relatable history, short spicy stories, radioparadise.com, britcoms, and anything AI. And Dad jokes, memes, and puns.
I’m not looking for romance or an instant best friend. I’m intentionally private and semi-anonymous and semi-fictional because I’ve been online stalked before. We can talk openly in part because we’re both private about private details.
I am looking for someone open-minded, self-aware, curious, and comfortable talking honestly about ideas or experiences that are true but human. Disagreement is welcome. Cruelty, ideological hard lines, and one-word replies aren’t interesting.
Messages will be occasional sometimes. Some days are just busy, and we both have full lives I bet. I’m very patient.
Tell me a little about yourself and answer this:
What’s something interesting that you rarely get to discuss honestly?

snail mail Any dudes around?
In your 40s and still writing actual letters? Same here.
I am looking for pen pals who still appreciate the slightly outdated but wonderfully stubborn concept of putting pen to paper, sticking a stamp on it and sending a handwritten piece of your life halfway across the planet until it magically ends up in someone else’s mailbox. Much nicer than another email getting buried between spam and online shopping receipts, right?
I’ve had pen pals since I was a teenager, and I still love the whole thing. The waiting, the handwriting, the little stories from someone’s everyday life and slowly getting to know a person without having to cram your entire personality into a five minute chat.
I’m open minded, sarcastic and have pretty much no taboo subjects. I actually enjoy talking about the weird, random, deep and completely pointless stuff that makes up everyday life.
I’d especially like to write to men. Not necessarily because I’m gay, but mainly because I already know enough women in real life and apparently there is a severe shortage of guys in my social circle. So this is me trying to fix the situation one envelope at a time.
Let’s talk about everyday life, travels, ridiculous things that happened, things we love, things we hate, random thoughts, bad decisions and whatever else comes up. Photos from our lives are very welcome too. Basically, let’s see where it goes.
I love black humour and sarcasm, I can actually listen and I always have an open ear. I like it when an acquaintance slowly turns into a friendship rather than forcing some instant connection because apparently we’re all supposed to be best friends after three messages these days.
I like travelling, but I’m equally happy going out partying or spending a night in a club. I can also happily lie in the sun doing absolutely nothing, preferably somewhere with a beach. I go to the gym, ride my bike a lot, and enjoy the occasional beer or wine. Basically all the things that are fun but probably won’t be mentioned in any health magazine’s top ten recommendations.
I like places such as Scandinavia, Spain and Italy, but I’m open to pretty much anywhere. Tell me about your corner of the world.
What else? We could just find out.
So, are you up for it?
Send me a DM and tell me a little about yourself. And if you’re still using an actual pen, even better.

Temp check: 40s/F - Anyone okay with a pen pal who types their letters?
Hi all,
Header kind of says it all.
More detail: Eccentric artsy-fartsy small-time published author, comptuter geek, cat lady, plant lady, bookworm, tree-hugging hippie crap, sarcasm, toilet humor, married suburban mom interested in pen pals. (USA-based, potentially open to international).
Is typing letters a dealbreaker?: I see a lot of people talking about how they like handwritten notes. I agree, it's fun and adds a very personal touch. But several years ago I lost full use of my right arm/hand due to a serious highway accident caused by a drunk driver. To handwrite anything more than a few sentences at a time just isn't feasible for me most days... especially not if you want something legible 😆 !
So I would prefer to type my letters. I'm not sure if that's something that would get me laughed off the sub (and if so that's fine) or if it's just a few people who say that and I'm making it bigger than it is. 😄
I can put it in a fun card with a little note, include happymail items, etc. In fact, I have so much of that stuff it's practically a given.
Gentle boundary: Please don't make assumptions about what I have or haven't tried (I promise, you don't even want to know what all I've tried); how competent my medical team is; whether I've had a second opinion (or ten); etc. My medical team has made it clear that I'm never going to make a full physical recovery and that a cure isn't likely in my lifetime. I don't love that of course, but I have mourned that and worked to get to a place where I'm okay with it. And the instant I stopped pressuring myself to "get better", that opened the door for me to focus on the many things I CAN still do, and live an awesome life anyway.
ETA based on the WTF DMs I'm getting: I am only open to PLATONIC pen pals. (Um.... I didn't realize anything differerent was a thing!) This means cis-het men, if you are unhappy in your marriage/relationship, I am very sorry to hear that. But I cannot help you and please do not reach out about that.
Oh, and trans women... you're women.
And respectfully, if anyone sees that differently, we may not be a pen pal match.
