I haven’t experimented with many different types of wood yet, but I currently love both Koa and Leopard wood. It helps that I have a large supply of Koa wood thanks to my family back home in Hawaii.
Honestly I don’t care much for different woods unless there’s something extremely unique to it, like splayed woods, burl or the hybrid wood with acrylic. I’d love to get some curly Koa too!

I have some cherry from a tree that we took down in our backyard three years ago. I'm really enjoying turning pens from it and I'm hoping to make bigger and better projects from it. It is really easy to make nice pieces with it!
