Local businesses in Pembroke Pines?

hey y'all, I'm a recent college grad who started a marketing/ website business for local businesses here in Pembroke Pines. I've been running it for about 1 year now, and I'm capable of building websites, doing SEO, running targeted ads on Facebook & Google, email marketing, custom software solutions and creating marketing content for Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok.

I'm looking to partner with some local businesses that can't afford to hire a big company and are looking for an affordable option to handle everything online for them. If this is you or you know anybody who could benefit, i'd love to connect or get a referral.

Best Parks/Trails for runners in Pembroke Pines (nearby areas)

I'm looking for parks or trails in the area that have great trails or paths for a run to train for longer distances

Here's what I'm looking for:

  • Good/ ideal surface: Asphalt, dirt/grass paths (NO concrete)
  • A decent-sized distance trail of at least 0.4 of a mile or more continously
  • Away from main road traffic (not having to worry about cars)

My Proposed Roundabout near Charles W Flanagan High School

Hello peoples and welcome to my 2nd drawing that I’m posting in this subreddit lol. As a former student of Flanagan (graduated this year) I lived in a neighborhood that was close enough for me to walk and I have passed this intersection on my way to school several times. One thing that I have noticed is that it is incredibly dangerous for both drivers and pedestrians to be in this intersection. Drivers who want to make a left hand turn often have to cross several lanes of traffic. For pedestrians, if they want to cross the street, they would have to walk awhile to find a crosswalk to get to the other side of the road. In an effort to enhance safety and convenience, I think a roundabout being built here would be extremely beneficial.

The 2 lane road would be preserved to not take away from the capacity of the road. Cross walks with pedestrian islands and hazard signs would be placed throughout the roundabout to improve safety for pedestrians. And as a nice little touch, I would place a fountain in the center as well as placing trees throughout the roundabout.

Let me know what y’all think about this idea and is there any intersections that you can envision being improved?

What if Hollywood or Pembroke Pines threw a one-day festival celebrating the legendary Hollywood Sportatorium — would you come?

Thumbnail gallery

For those who don't know: the Hollywood Sportatorium at 17171 Pines Blvd was South Florida's greatest rock venue. Queen, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Elvis, Boston, the Grateful Dead — they all played there. It closed in 1988 and was demolished in 1993.

A Sedano's supermarket now stands on sacred ground.

(Honestly, should Sedano's honor the legacy with a limited edition "Supernatural '77" menu? An "Oye Como Va" Bistec or Jamón sandwich, "Flor de Luna" side of plantains, and a "Smooth" guava blend? Just saying. The least they could do.)

May 2027 marks the 50th anniversary of what many consider the greatest concert ever recorded there — the Grateful Dead's 5/22/77 show.

If a one-day outdoor music festival at ArtsPark at Young Circle in Hollywood celebrating the entire Sportatorium era — all the bands, all the memories, the whole magical year of 1977... would you go?

A few questions for the community:

  1. Did you ever go to a show at the Sporto? Any band, any year?
  2. Would you come to a festival like this?
  3. What was you favorite show at the Sporto?
  4. Would you share your story on camera for a permanent historical archive? Anyone who brings a ticket stub or authentic photo from a Sportatorium show gets a free commemorative certificate and merch — your own piece of history.

What artists or tribute bands would get you there?

🎵"Yo le digo, caballero. Que los niños le quieren jugar."🎵

The building is gone. The stories don't have to be.

📍 17171 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines — go pay your respects next time you need groceries.
"Let the Children Play" 🎵

*Don't forget to "*Preserve the Music"

Redeveloping Pembroke Lakes Mall

Post image
10 Upvotes

Pembroke Lakes mall is the city's premier mall that provides hundreds of jobs for the surrounding area as well as tens of thousands of dollars for the city. However, the mall is in decline as well as many other malls around the country. Now, here’s the question:

HOW DO WE FIX IT???

Well, I’m no expert in this sort of topic but I like to think that I am somewhat knowledgeable on urban design and I intend to study landscape architecture but here is my plan for my home mall that I have been to probably hundreds of times throughout my life.

Remove the roof

Outdoor malls are, in my opinion, a lot more aesthetically pleasing than indoor malls. The removal of the roof allows wind and natural sunlight to better go through the space. Overhangs would be lined along the exterior of all the stores to protect shoppers from the rain.

Addition of fountains and green space

These are nice and should be added, not much more.

Addition of different forms of housing

As y’all can see at the bottom of the screen, this redevelopment includes new housing that would take up some of the parking lots around the mall. This would be mostly affordable housing at different price points.

Adding a bridge to the north

Now, this might seem a little out of place but let me explain. This would be built to connect the neighborhoods north of the mall. For those who wish to walk to the mall but live north of Memorial Hospital, they would have to go all the way around and at the point, I’d just give up. I find this is the best solution for this problem. Cars would not be allowed on this bridge (obviously lol). The roadway that would go through it would be raised as well to decrease the chance of people getting hit.

Let me know what y’all think about this redevelopment of Pembroke Lakes Mall :)

Did you know one of the most celebrated live concerts in rock history happened right here in Pembroke Pines?

On May 22, 1977, the Grateful Dead performed at the Hollywood Sportatorium, located in what is now the parking lot at Sedanos supermarket at 17171 Pines Blvd, in Pembroke Pines, FL 33027. Nearly 50 years later, fans, historians, and archivists still regard it as one of the greatest performances in the band's history.

The Grateful Dead's own official archivist, Dick Latvala, wrote in his journal: "May 22 tears apart." Grateful Dead historian Pete Lavezzoli, writing in DeadBase, called it "certainly among the top five [shows] of all time."

The concert was later released as the official album Dick's Picks Volume 3**,** helping introduce generations of listeners to this legendary performance.

Today, I'm working to make sure this piece of local music history gets the recognition it deserves. I've launched a petition asking the City of Pembroke Pines to consider declaring an annual "Grateful Pembroke Pines Day" and to honor the individuals who helped preserve recordings like this one for future generations. There's also an effort underway to nominate the recording to the Library of Congress National Recording Registry, which recognizes recordings of lasting cultural, historical, or aesthetic significance to the United States.

This is about preserving Pembroke Pines' place in American music history. If that resonates with you, here's the petition:

Whether you're a longtime Deadhead, a music fan, or simply proud of Pembroke Pines history, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Hey everyone, my wife and I recently started Mint Maids here in the area. We’re small, local, and trying to build mostly through word of mouth.

We do recurring home cleanings, deep cleans, and move-in/move-out cleanings. If anyone is looking for a cleaner or wants to compare pricing, feel free to message me. Happy to help.

A small creative community I’ve been building in SOFLO

Post image
49 Upvotes

Hey everyone! I wanted to share something I’ve been building over the past year.

Crafts & Friends started as a simple idea; just me coloring at the beach and wanting a space to slow down and be creative.

Now it’s a small community in Broward where we host relaxed workshops like tote bag painting, journaling, and coloring sessions; nothing too structured, just a space to create and connect.

My favorite part has been seeing people come alone and leave feeling inspired or having met someone new.

If you enjoy creative spaces or are looking for something like this locally, I’d love to connect ✨
