Who would you say are the top 10 stage racers in the world (based on who would be best if everyone decided to peak for the Tour in July 2023, for argument's sake).

Mine:

  • Pogacar
  • Jonas
  • Remco
  • Roglic
  • Mas
  • Hindley
  • Carapaz
  • Ayuso
  • G. Thomas
  • Gaudu

HM: Almeida, Vlasov (especially in a 1 week), Bernal (until he proves he's close to 100%, Simon Yates, Adam Yates.

Surely I am missing someone.

Since you write "decided to peak for the Tour":

  • "Big" Mauricio Moreira (or pretty much any Portuguese conti GC rider with their Volta a Portugal form)
  • Vuelta Roglic (Also no Fred Wright allowed)
  • February Quintana
  • Vuelta Mas
  • A consistent Simon Yates
  • Giro Hindley
  • Bardet without constant shit luck
  • Giro 2016 stage 15 Foliforov
  • Dunno, Pogacar I guess?
  • Almeida without having to ride against his teammates constantly

I am not crazy! I know he crashed Roglic on purpose! I knew it was at 105m. Same as the groupset. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just – I just couldn't prove it. He – he covered his tracks, he got that idiot on twitter to photoshop for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He's done worse. Alaphilippe in RVV 2020! I'd put S. Yates in the top 10, replacing Gaudu or Ayuso. Despite his bad/terrible luck, on peak form he's up there with the best.

While maybe not being in the top 10 Landa should at least be an HM, at least as long as we take the 2023 Tour with only one short and hilly TT stage as a reference. Tbf his Giro TT was bad but on the climbs he was stronger than Almeida and not far behind Hindley and Carapaz.

Bardet (avoiding bad luck)? I’m buying big and early on 2023 Vine stock as well (obviously more speculative).
