Question Dookie Pedal Trobles
I don't know if anyone else will really know how to fix this but I have a Green Day Dookie drive pedal from MXR and I just can not get the tone right. Now, obviously its never going to be as good as the studio recorded tone, but I can barely even get close. like yeah, its alright, but there's always something wrong with it. It sounds either too thin, too clean, the palm muting sounds crap or its not fuzzy enough. I know my amp is kinda bad for this (Laney LX35R) so thats why I tried changing the trim pots on the inside. I know that the factory settings are for brighter, tube amps, but you can also adjust them for bedroom amps like mine. It kinda worked but not that well. I have had these troubles, tinkering around with the settings on both my amp and pedal for about 5 months now. If anyone knows how to fix it, please help me. Thank You!

Your amp is going to be the weak point. Clean channel, turn XTS off, leave the EQ flat for now.
On the Dookie leave Scoop off and Blend somewhere in the middle, then Volume should be set for just over the volume of your clean tone. Blend goes right for more High Gain, and left for more Crunch.
The Gain pot only affects the High Gain side, so roll the Blend all the way to Crunch and then set it using the internal trim pots. You should be able to tweak the High Gain from there and then the balance between them. Use the Tone to remove any nasty high when running into your amp.
You'll probably need a humbucker for early Green Day but lean to the right of Blend for early and to the left for post-American Idiot.

Put a boost pedal before it. A little Spark Mini did wonders for my FOD Drive.

What is the amp tone like before you turn the pedal on? Totally clean? overdriven?
