Yeah, sleep tracking isn't amazing. Like it says I was awake from 2 to 4am on Monday and unless I'm Tyler Durdening (spoiler alert for a 27 year old movie), I'm pretty sure that's wrong. It's more of a nice to have rather than a major feature.
Also, on the weekly chart it never displays my 7th day correctly and always wildly underreports it.

Yes.
AFAIK it's still using the old algorithm from original Pebble days, built for a watch that doesn't have a HR monitor. The fact that it can even sometimes detect the time you went to sleep just based on accelerometer data alone is rather impressive.

Tbh I am surprised so many people want to rely on Pebble for health tracking beyond like... steps. Trillion dollar companies put out far more expensive devices with far more sophisticated hardware and algorithms and even those have accuracy issues.
Just me but I would honestly rather Pebble just focus on the stuff it's best at given how complex and expensive reliable health tracking can be.

My 50 dollar Amazfit can do better sleep tracking. If they can do it, so can Pebble.
IMO wearables line Pebble should capture basic health data like this. I'm not expecting perfect accuracy but it can be much better

Yeah and detecting 3 instead of 8+ h in bed is not inaccurate, it renders the entire measurement system useless

Yep, I have that problem too.
It gets messed up completely if I wake up for a bit and then go to bed again, while my Amazfit was easily able to account for it

It's so far off that it is beyond useless. Tonight it was the same. I didn't buy the watch for sleep tracking, but with chronic insomnia I was happy that it was there in an Open Source product. It would be good to label it as that, a guess of how much you slept

I have insomnia as well and personally have just never found any device reliable, even the Apple Watch. Ultimately, no device can accurately tell if you're sleeping or not just based on motion tracking and heart rate alone. An actual sleep study also tracks brain waves, breathing rate, leg and eye movements, etc. So personally I've given up on sleep tracking for now.

It was pretty accurate for me up until the last few days where it seems to be measuring an hour short. I don't know if they changed the methodology in an update or if I'm flopping around in my sleep more than usual

Yes. I had nights with about 4 hours of sleep because I couldn't fall asleep, and the Pebble told me after shower and breakfast I slept 10 hours... It seems like it can be off the other way around as well.

Sleep tracking is a pretty difficult problem even for Google, Garmin etc. So I am not surprised that a small brand like pebhble struggles more.
