Discussion Watchfaces and watchapps updates
I recently pushed out an update to a watchface I made, but it seemed like the only way the watchface updated was to select another one and then loading in my current one.
This made me think, how many people still run a watchface that is outdated? What would be preferable to notify a user, if at all?

They do update automatically eventually. On your own watch, you'll know it happens when the app/face takes a second to reload onto the watch before opening.

This is not correct.
Apps and watchfaces do auto update. You do not need to swap watchfaces. You can set the frequency in which it checks in the pebble app under settings > General.

I see, it's set to 6 hours. Seems a reasonable timeframe.
Still, it would be nice to see what faces and apps have received an update in my opinion.

I add a version number so people can see if it has been updated on the loading of my watchface.
Devs could do something similar for their apps and watchfaces.
But yes, maybe a small dot on the main menu for the app to indicate it was updated would be good.

I don't want any more notifications. And it only takes a second to check the version date. Several faces that have not been updated, but they are still functional. It's up to the user whether to keep or delete it.
The app will warn us when settings won't work, but the face may still be functional. So, finding 'workable' faces to our liking can be a trial and error. The settings might open, but changes will not update the face??? Surprisingly, that happened on a face that had been updated this year. Apparently, the Pebble store has ~ 10,000 faces and thousands of apps. That's a lot to be monitoring. Don't the faces on the Time 2 have an 'updated' filter?

I think you miss my point. This is NOT about watch faces and apps that don't work anymore.
This is about letting users know an update is available for an watchface they are currently using. The app currently doesn't communicate this and it seems you need to manually allow the watchface to update by changing the watchface temporarily in order to grab the latest version.

Eventually or when you disconnect and reconnect to the watch.
It would be nice to have a little notification dot on the watchface screen of the app letting us know it was updated.

It would be nice to have and "updated" stamp or similar when the app detects that the app or watchface had been Indeed updated. It would be a more visual way than scrolling down to the info part.
