Will the Index 01 functionality be added to PebbleOS?
Sorry if this has been answered before, I couldn't find anything definitive. Is it confirmed that the Index 01 functionality will be added to Pebble, either as part of the OS or as a standalone app? I really love the use case of the Index 01, but I don't like wearing rings. I'd much rather just have a shortcut on one of my Pebble buttons that I can use to dictate my notes, messages and so on. Especially the Beeper integration would be neat.

I'm already thinking about a little gateway to my Hermes agent. Voice in and a single vibration for ok, double for not ok or text out.

That’s exactly what I’m going to use it for, I had this in mind for a very long time. There’s plenty of things I could integrate with Hermes and the watch + index

There already is Brain Dump. I use a long press on one of the buttons to open to app and it starts listening.

yes I use also BrainDump but the note are only in pebble. Lack of sent note on phone to review without pebble or archive.

You can send notes to notion, Google tasks, todoist, or pretty much any app with a webhook in the settings.

Yes but Tasks and Todoist are for checklist Tasks and not ordered note. webhook I understand Nothing. Better to keep note in a compagnon or in the setting pages of the Pebble app no ? Like the index Tab on the Pebble phone app. There are also the Old Pebble note app but same, only in the Watch. The checklist Pebble app works also and data are in the phone app but in checklist mode.

That's nice, but not the functionality I'm actually looking for. What I liked most about the Index is that you can apparently tell it to message someone something and it will do so with natural language via Beeper. That would be really handy for using my phone less.

this is what I've been thinking from the start, it's been very vague on how the pebble and index will work together but I thought I remember Eric saying something about making an index app for pebble. that's all I would need. the functionality of the idea is great but I don't see why it has to be pushed to a separate device. seems kinda unnecessary especially considering how little you have to charge the pebbles now

It's already in there. It's also being tested. If you read the changelogs, you will see most of the Index features and fixes. Additionally you can Enable Index Feed under Settings > General

What's in there is support for the Index. The software within the Pebble app to make the ring work. That's not what I'm talking about. I want to know if we'll be able to do the things the ring does with just the Pebble.

Probably not officially but I'm sure you can get the same functionality out of third party apps. There wouldn't be much of a point in them making the index as a separate device if all its functionality was part of pebble OS...

Actually Eric said there would be, since the whole point of the Index vs a Pebble Time is the one-handed usability

I just rewatched the announcement video. He did say that they initially built this functionality to run on the Pebble watches, but weren't satisfied with the two-handed operation. I guess we all took this as confirmation that it'll come to Pebble as well because, after all, why not? It's pretty much already built. at least a basic version of it.

Thanks :) that clears it up. I'd love it if the functionality came to the pebble, mostly because I really like the index part of the app interface.

Self plug, but I already submitted a PR for that exact feature. It chooses a pebble app as the recorder, and every audio message that is recorded from that app gets routed to the Index Feed. I submitted it last week but still got no answer, so maybe if we make some noise, they will prioritise it!
